2016 Defeat of Jesse James Days General Chairman’s Corner

Here are some brief stats I have accumulated from various events Chairman’s  

● Rodeo: o Was held at the current rodeo grounds (Babcock Park). o Pedestrian traffic had issues. 

▪ Hwy 3 underpass under water the celebration. ▪ Shuttle buses were well received  

o First time the rodeo was held on turf (little wet). o Sutton family it was the wettest they ever saw. o Sutton family put on a Great show. 

o Rodeo Attendance.  ▪ Friday night normal attendance. ▪ Saturday afternoon & evening record attendance. 

o Adult beverage consumption showed profits. ▪ Great bar tenders. 

o Whiplash (Rodeo monkey was a great crowd pleaser.  

● Carnival: o Was first time the carnival was held in Dundas(Kmart parking lot) o Big Thank You to Jerry Anderson for facilitating the site where the carnival 

was held. o Attendees appreciated the shuttle buses and space to also park. o Owner expressed attendance was down about 25%. 

 ● Concessions: 

o Had a fabulous year o Two vendors expressed their numbers were down due to location. o Had a couple new vendors this year. o I again enjoyed the Cake Walk booth this year. 

 ● Sundowners Car Show: 

o Had to move part of the show due to wet ground issues. o Had 244 cars registered 

o Was their 25th years at our celebration     

● Tractor Pull: o 121 attendees hooked up their tractors to pull at the show. o There were 37 more than last year. o This year there were 4 wheel drive trucks this year. o Had 10 more tractors than last year. 

 ● Grand Parade: 

o Parade held in two hours. o 130+ units o 70 Banners o Parade Winners were 

▪ Marching bands: ● 1st place     Simley High School 

2nd place    St Peter High School 3rd place     United High School 

▪ Royalty floats: ● 1st place      Cottage Grove Ambassadors 

2nd place     Fridley 49er Ambassadors 3rd place      Whiz Bang Days Ambassadors 

▪ Non­Profit: ● 1st place      Mill Town Haunt 

2nd place     Northfield High School Highliners 3rd place      St Dominic’s School 

▪ Commercial: ● 1st place      Napa of Northfield 

2nd place     Sema Equipment 3rd place      Just Food Coop 

▪ Entertainment: ● 1st place       Schell’s Hobo Band 

2nd place      Pan Handlers Band 3rd place       Minnesota Police Pipe Band 

▪ Clown Clubs: ● 1st place        Selim Grotto Clown Club 

2nd place       Clowns Across the River 3rd place        St Paul Clown Club 

   

● Hockey Tournament  o Five teams attended. o Record attendance. 

 ● Raider Derby: 

o Exceptional year. o Attendance up slightly from last year. 

 ● Historical Society: 

o Great attendance.  o Second best year on record. 

 ● Thursday Night Thunder: 

o Local Race car Drivers. o Monster Truck. o Well received & will be back next year. 

 ● Saturday Night Entertainment 

o Well attended o Both acts did Great Job 

▪ Alex Clark (Humor & Juggler) ▪ Lizzy the Dream Girl (Hypnotists) 

o The show be back next year  

● Give Cancer the Boot o Corn Hole tournament  (Entertainment Center) 

▪ Well attended o Great attendance at Saturday night Rodeo show. 

 ● Shuttle Bus Service: 

o First year of such a large service. o Was well received at used. o Received good feedback & can be improved. 

  

● Craft Sales: o Central Park (Gingerbread Show) 

▪ Well attended. ▪ Liked shuttle bus service. 

o Sechler Park Show: o First year. o Well attended o Liked bus service o Wants to come back & make larger next year. 

 ● Button Sales: 

o Big Thanks to the Sertoma club again for selling our buttons. o It was the fourth best DJJD for Button sales. 

o Thursday & Friday were below average for sales. o Saturday set record amounts for sales. o Sold 2595 buttons during the celebration.
