The Spiders also compiled their fifth 20-win season since 2009. Over that time span, UR has won nine games in the conference tournament. After eight assists vs. GW, Cline is nine assists away from the second-best assist season in school history. He is 20 away from the school record. Richmond will face VCU for the third time this season and the third time in the A-10 tournament since the Rams joined the conference. The Spiders are looking for their first tourney win vs. VCU. Sophomore Khwan Fore has made winning plays against George Washington his entire career. On Friday night, he made perhaps the biggest play yet in the game's final possession. Fore stole the ball with the Spiders leading by one and hit a flying layin as time expired to give Richmond a 70- 67 win over GW. The Spiders (20-11) gutted out an emotional March tournament game that featured 21 lead changes and no lead larger than six points. UR only allowed five turnovers while forcing 13 from GW. The Spiders grabbed more offensive rebounds than the taller Colonials and had a 10-8 advantage in second-chance points. LAST MEETING BOX SCORE

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU used an early second-half run and claimed an 84-73 win over Richmond in the Lumber Liquidators Capital City Classic on Friday night in the Robins Center.

The Spiders trailed by just one point at halftime, but VCU’s size and its 40 points in the paint kept the margin at two possessions for most of the second half.

Richmond was led by T.J. Cline who tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. ShawnDre' Jones tallied his eighth 20-point game of the season as he scored 20 points with three assists.

Freshman De'Monte Buckingham had nine points and seven rebounds.

The Rams were led by JeQuan Lewis’ 16 points, while Jonathan Williams came off the bench to score 15.

Richmond forced 17 turnovers on six steals while only giving up the ball 11 times. The Spiders also held a 9-5 advantage on the offensive glass with 11 second-chance points.

The Rams held a lead for most of the first half until Cline connected on a three-pointer to tie the game at 26. After a Nick Sherod rebound, Jones found Cline in the open court and a fast-break layup gave the Spiders the lead. Sherod then knocked down a three-pointer to put the Spiders up five.

UR led by as many as six after a Buckingham putback, but the Rams closed out the half with strong defense and a jumper from Ahmed Hamdy gave them a 36-35 lead at the break.

VCU found space in the interior and opened the second half with eight straight points to build a

nine-point lead. The Spiders were able to draw fouls and get to the free throw line, but VCU three-pointers came in timely fashion and the Spiders couldn’t get closer than a six-point margin the rest of the way.

Richmond In The A-10 TournamentRichmond is 14-13 all-time in the A-10 tournament after the Spiders made their first appearance in 2002.

UR is 6-1 all-time as the three seed, including a three-game run to the tournament title in 2011 as a three seed.

The Spiders won the title in 2011 and made a championship game appearance in 2010. UR has advanced to the quarterfinals in four consecutive seasons including 2017. This year marks the first time since the 2011 run that Richmond has reached the semifinals.

UR is 0-2 all-time against VCU in the A-10 tournament.

Series vs. VCUThe Rams won both regular-season games this year and have won five in a row in the series. VCU holds a 50-28 lead in the all-time series which dates back to 1976. The Spiders are 0-2 all-time in neutral site games against the Rams.

Awards SweepRichmond senior T.J. Cline was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and freshman De'Monte Buckingham was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Along with Cline on the First Team and Buckingham on the Rookie team, ShawnDre' Jones was named All-A-10 Third Team.

Richmond became the first team since 1988, and just the third team in A-10 history, to boast both the Player and Rookie of the Year on the same team.

With Cline on the First Team, the Spiders have now had five First Team honorees since 2010, more than any other A-10 program over that stretch.

P-R-A MachineAfter coming close on three occasions, T.J. Cline finally broke through for the first-ever triple-double in school history against Duquesne. He scored 34 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. It marked just

the sixth time that any NCAA DI player has reached 30 points in a triple-double in the last 20 years. Of those six players, Cline was the only one to do it in regulation.

On Senior Day, Cline broke through again, tallying 19 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. He is one of just two players with two triple-doubles in the NCAA this year.

T.J. Cline is currently averaging 18.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, making him just the third player (Penny Hardaway, Evan Turner) to average 18-8-5 in the last 25 years.

Cline has more assists than any player in the country his height or taller and ranks ninth in the nation with an assist rate of 39.5. His 180 assists on the season rank 3rd all-time at Richmond as he now trails Greg Beckwith's school by 20 dimes.

Cline is putting together one of the best seasons in recent memory in rebounding as Charles Stephens (1997-98) was the last Spider to average over eight rebounds a game for an entire season (8.3).

Cline has tallied 11 double-doubles this season, more than any other Spider since 1987-88 when Peter Woolfolk tallied 13.

Batman and RobinCline's partner in crime the past three years has been fellow senior ShawnDre' Jones. Jones also scored 30 points in UR's win over Duquesne, the first time a pair of Spiders have each scored 30 in a game in Mooney's tenure. Jones then followed it up with a gutsy 30-point effort at VCU. He is tied for second in the A-10 with three 30-point games this year.

Jones is averaging 17.0 points per game and 4.0 assists per game, ranking top 10 in the league in both categories. His assist-turnover ratio of 2.0 ranks fifth in the league.

Jones and Cline are the third-highest scoring duo in the Atlantic 10. Jones became the first player in Richmond history to top 1,400 points, 300 assists and 200 three-pointers made.

2016-17 SPIDER MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES

2016-17 SPIDER MEN’S BASKETBALL | RICHMONDSPIDERS.COM | @SPIDERMBB | #ONERICHMOND

Jones earned his first All-Conference honor this year after winning Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year accolades in 2015. He was named All-A-10 Third Team this year.

Buck Stops HereThe Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Year, De'Monte Buckingham has been outstanding since entering the starting lineup at JMU (12/20).

He tallied the most rebounds (180) of any Spider freshman since Charles Stephens in 1998.

Buckingham averaged 11.9 points per game in conference play, including two 20-point outbursts. He also nabbed 30 steals in A-10 play, ranking fourth in the league and first among freshmen.

Khwan EffectAlthough quiet off the court, Khwan Fore can make a big statement on it. His rim-rattling dunks can be momentum shifters when coming from a 6-0 guard. He had three such dunks in the second half at Dayton and two against Davidson. He is Richmond's most athletic player pound-for-pound with a 45-inch vertical.

He exploded for a career-high 24 points against George Washington, scoring on dribble drives and pull-up jumpers at the elbow. He then dished a career-high 12 assists at Fordham, the most by any Spider since 1996. In the A-10 quarterfinals, Fore scored 14 points and had the game-winning steal and layin as the clock expired.

In A-10 play, Fore averaged 11.1 points with 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He ranks eighth in the league with 1.6 steals per game.

High-Flying SpidersWhile Richmond runs a "Princeton-style" offense, the Spiders are far from slow and boring. Richmond ranks in the top 75 in the nation in pace of play and UR averaged 75.7 ppg in conference play, good for second in the league. Richmond also shot 48.4 percent from the field in A-10 play, leading the league.

Defending The LineRichmond has done a fantastic job defending the three-point line this season. It's even more impressive considering the improvement from last year. Last season, Richmond ranked 267th in three-point defense. This year, the Spiders rank 26th in the nation by holding opponents to just 31.5 percent from long range.

Assist To...The Spiders have always run an offense with constant motion and crisp passes that lead to shots in rhythm. Richmond is at its best when every player on the court is setting up someone else for a shot.

The Spiders lead the league in assists (17.0) and assist-turnover ratio (1.5). Richmond has dished more or same assists than the opponent in 26 of the season's 31 games. In Atlantic 10 play, the Spiders averaged 18.1 assists per game.

UR ranks fifth in the country in assist-to-FG percentage of 63.8. The Spiders led the league in assist-turnover ratio last year and ranked second the year before.

Surviving RunsIn Richmond's first four A-10 road wins, the Spiders have built leads of 18, 21, 18 and 15 points in the second half. In each instance, the home team has made it a one-possession game in the final 10 minutes. However, Richmond has been able to make winning plays in each instance down the stretch.

The Spiders are 19-1 when holding a lead with five minutes remaining and 16-2 when leading or tied at the half. UR has overcome double-digit deficits in three of the teams' wins, and only given up a double-digit lead in a loss once to then-ranked Maryland.

Award CenterRichmond tallied eight Atlantic 10 Weekly awards with Cline (4) and Jones (1) winning Player of the Weeks and Buckingham (3) winning Rookie of the Week awards.

Cline was tabbed by the USBWA as the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week after his triple-double. It marked the first national

player of the week honor for any Spider.

Cline was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and an All-Atlantic 10 First Team honoree. Buckingham was Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week and an All-Atlantic 10 Rookie Team honoree. Jones earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team.

Climbing The Record BooksShawnDre' Jones and T.J. Cline continue to climb Richmond's all-time record book.

Cline has now scored 1,564 career points at Richmond, with Jones right behind him at 1,549. Adding his points from his freshman year at Niagara, Cline has totaled 1,826 career points.

Jones moved into sixth place all-time with 218 career three-pointers. Jones now also has 351 assists for his career, ranking eighth all-time.

Cline is now eighth all-time in field goals made and seventh in assists. He is third all-time for assists in a single season, just 20 away from the school record.

With Jones and Cline continually moving up, seven of the top 14 scorers all-time have graduated since 2010.

Scary MomentRichmond freshman Grant Golden collapsed on the court during the first half of the Texas Tech game. After a two-day hospital stay and extensive tests, doctors performed an ablation procedure aimed at fixing the cause of his cardiac episode. Golden has been doing rehab work but has not been medically cleared to practice.

Best In The A-10Over the last nine years, Richmond has won 99 conference games, two behind Dayton for the most over that span. Richmond is one of just four A-10 teams to not suffer an overall losing season in any of the last eight years.

Over that same span, the Spiders have won 13 games against ranked teams, beating out every other Atlantic 10 team for ranked wins. Coach Mooney’s 13 Top-25 wins rank higher than any other coach in Richmond history.

With Richmond’s win against Boston College in November, the Spiders have now won 20 games against power-conference programs under Coach Mooney.

1,000 Point ClubRobins Center has hosted a lot of pregame

1,000-point ceremonies over the last several years and this November is no different.

Senior ShawnDre’ Jones surpassed 1,000 career points at the end of last season at George Mason. Senior T.J. Cline eclipsed 1,000 points with his 15-point effort to open the season.

Since 2009, Richmond has had at least one 1,000-point scorer on the court in all but one season. Seven of the top 14 scorers in school history have graduated since 2010, and Cline is the 10th 1,000-point scorer under Coach Chris Mooney.

Rich Athletic LineageRichmond’s basketball roster is filled with the sons of standout athletes who passed down their athletic prowess.

Most notably, T.J. Cline is the son of Sacramento Kings assistant coach and Hall of Fame women’s basketball player Nancy Lieberman. T.J.’s father, Tim Cline, also played ball with the Washington Generals.

Freshman Nick Sherod is the son of E.J. Sherod who played basketball at ODU. Nick’s grandfather, Edmund, was a Hall of Famer at VCU before playing for the New York Knicks.

ShawnDre’ Jones’ father played basketball at Virginia State, while Marshall Wood’s uncle played football at JMU. Khwan Fore’s mother ran track at Emporia State and Paul Friendshuh’s mother played volleyball at UW-Eau Claire.

Grant Golden’s father played at Fairfield University and he had two grandfathers that played collegiate football. De’Monte Buckingham’s father played at Jefferson-Huguenot-Wythe High School.

Next season’s signing class Bryce Schneider whose father, Jeff, played basketball at Virginia Tech.

Summer TripThis past summer, the Spiders journeyed to Europe and visited Ireland, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Over two weeks, the team explored historic Dublin, attended a hurling match, boated down the Rhine, biked through Amsterdam, did a zip line and cave laser tag and played four games against local competiton.

Pro SpidersThe Spiders have a long history of turning basketball players into successful professionals. On the court, Richmond has had at least 38 players play in the NBA or

overseas, including 2011 graduate Justin Harper on the Detroit Pistons last season. Harper is currently under contract in the NBA D-League for the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

During Coach Mooney’s tenure, a graduating player from all but one season has gone on to play professional basketball, for a total of 16 former players with pro teams since 2006. Recent graduates Kendall Anthony (Brazil) and Terry Allen (Hungary) have enjoyed very productive seasons so far.

The Spiders have also produced a number of front-office pros in the NBA. Former star Kenny Atkinson was named head coach of the Brooklyn Nets this offseason and he brought former Spider Chris Fleming along as an assistant coach. Former standout Curtis Blair is an NBA referee. Recent graduate Zach Chu was named an assistant coach for the D-League’s Texas Legends and Dan Geriot won an NBA title last year as video coordinator for the Cleveland Cavaliers, a role he retains this season.

2017 Signees Richmond men’s basketball announced the signings of five players for the 2017 signing class.

Richmond received letters of intent from Bryce Schneider (6-5, Myrtle Beach, S.C.), Jacob Gilyard (5-10, Kansas City, Mo.), Nathan Cayo (6-7, Montreal, Canada), Tomas Verbinskis (6-7, Weston, Fla.) and AJ Ford (6-8, St. Petersburg, Fla.)

Hailing from Myrtle Beach, S.C., Schneider comes to Richmond from a rich basketball lineage. Standing at 6-5, Schneider plays with terrific pace and has a good feel for the game with tremendous versatility. He will be attending Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach this year after playing for Myrtle Beach High School last season.

Schneider averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 22 contests during his junior season at Myrtle Beach HS. He led the Seahawks to the Class 3A state playoffs. He has played for the Big Shots Elite AAU team where he was a tournament MVP of a May tournament that saw his team win the tournament title.

The Spiders will continue a long legacy of lightning quick point guards with the signing of Gilyard out of The Barstow School in Kansas City. Last year, Gilyard averaged 17 points, six assists and four steals a game. A hard-nosed, versatile guard that sees the floor and is a prolific scorer, Gilyard plays for the KC RUN GMC AAU team. PrepHoops.com ranked Gilyard as the fourth-best recruit in Missouri’s 2017 recruiting class.

Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Cayo comes to Richmond as a 6-7 athletic forward. Known for his leaping and agility, Cayo will play above the rim in his Spider uniform.

Last season, Cayo averaged 19.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game playing for College Jean De Brebeuf, a Canadian preparatory school.

Wing shooter Tomas Verbinskis currently attends Sagemont School in Weston, Fla., the alma mater of current Spider Joe Kirby. Verbinskis is originally from Lithuania, but moved to the United States for high school. Verbinskis played on the U16 Lithuanian National Team in the FIBA Euro championships.

Verbinskis has excelled on one of the state’s prestigious high school programs and averaged 12 points, four rebounds and two assists per game last season.

UR’s final signee is 6-8 forward AJ Ford out of St. Petersburg, Fla. Although home schooled, Ford plays on the St. Petersburg HS team and AAU for the CP25 Southeast Elite team. Along with his two triplet brothers, Ford has led St. Petersburg to consecutive state semis. Ford’s older brother, Quincy, played collegiately at Northeastern and has played for the Utah Jazz.

All TV, All The Time2016-17 marks the first year that every single Spider basketball home game will be televised. Along with national games on ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and American Sports Network, Richmond's SpiderTV will also produce home games on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and local station WTVR-CBS 6. Regionally televised games will also be available online through the Atlantic 10 Network, while selected games will be streamed for free on Facebook LIVE. SPIDER STORYLINES

Graduate student Kwesi Abakah is the son of an Ghanaian immigrant. Kwesi translates to “born on Sunday.” He is an accomplished vocalist, performing a solo at his undergraduate graduation at Northeastern and will sing the National Anthem at UR’s game vs. Wake Forest.

T.J. Cline was the first basketball transfer to come to Richmond under Coach Mooney. His senior class now features three transfers in Cline, Wood and Abakah.

While all of UR’s three freshmen were born in Richmond and two went to high school here, senior ShawnDre’ Jones also reps the river city. He lived in Richmond through middle school before moving to Houston with his father for high school.

T.J. Cline grew up around the game of basketball with his mother, Nancy Lieberman, and father, Tim Cline, leading the way. Lieberman has held many posts in professional basketball while Cline is a former Washington General. T.J. did not make the varsity basketball team until his senior season and was not heavily recruited out of high school. He wrote about his experiences in The Players' Tribune.

Marshall Wood was a scratch golfer back in high school, playing for his Rustburg Red Devils as an offseason sport. He shot 74 in a tournament in 2010.

Khwan Fore is widely considered UR’s best athlete. At just 6-0, he has a 45-inch two-step vertical and was featured on SportsCenter Top 10 last year for his monster dunk at GW. Richmond Athletics did a science piece with Fore and the physics of his dunks.

Jesse Pistokache is of Choctaw Native American descent. He has an arm tattoo representing his tribe in Texas.

Spider basketball players have a wide variety of majors including economics, sociology, political science, business, accounting, human resources and computer science.

In his first basketball coaching job at Arcadia, Mooney also served as the facility coordinator for a building that hosted weddings on campus, effectively serving as a “wedding planner.”

CHRISMOONEY

HEAD COACH12th SEASON

PRINCETON, 1994

In 2016-17, head coach Chris Mooney begins his 12th season at the helm of the Richmond Spider men’s basketball program.

Mooney now ranks second all-time in the Spider record books with a career record of 223-173 at Richmond for a winning percentage of .563. He is also the fourth longest-tenured coach in the Atlantic 10.

In the spring of 2015, Mooney earned his 200th overall win as a Division I head coach, moving to 241-185 (.567) in 13 seasons at Richmond and Air Force. In January of 2017, he won his 100th game in A-10 competition.

He has led the Spiders to six postseason appearances, including NCAA Tournament trips in 2009-10 and 2010-11, and a trip to the NIT Quarterfinals in 2014-15. In the spring of 2011, Mooney’s Spiders made national headlines en route to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, knocking off five-seed Vanderbilt and Morehead State in the process. Richmond finished both the 2010 and 2011 seasons ranked in the Top 25.

Richmond has averaged 20.8 wins over the last eight seasons, with four 20-win campaigns. Playing an always-tough schedule in and out of conference, the Spiders have finished in the top 100 of the RPI in five of the last seven campaigns. UR has also tallied 13 wins over ranked opponents since 2008, more than any other Atlantic 10 program. The Spiders have also won six of the last seven games against ranked teams at the Robins Center.

Since 2008, the Spiders have gone 87-62 against A-10 opponents, tallying more conference wins than any other league team over that stretch. UR is one of just four A-10 teams to not suffer an overall losing season in the last nine years.

Richmond has 18 wins over BCS teams in the last decade with many of them nationally ranked. UR has knocked off California, Arizona State, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Purdue, Florida, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Mississippi State, St. John’s, Virginia Tech, USF and Seton Hall.

Mooney’s teams have protected their home court, going 89-25 for a winning percentage of .780 over the last seven seasons at the Robins Center. In 2015-16, UR averaged 6,435 fans per game, the highest home attendance since 1992-93.

In terms of personal accolades, Mooney was tabbed the Sporting News Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2010, while also being selected as a finalist for the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award that year as well. He has been featured in many national publications, including the New York Times, USA Today and Sports Illustrated, while also doing segments on ESPN.

In 2010, he won the Voice of the University Award, given to a faculty or staff member for being a voice that represents the University of Richmond in a positive manner to the wider community. That same year, Richmond Style Weekly tabbed him for the 40 Under 40 list, spotlighting UR’s community involvement with the homeless, Special Olympics, Arthritis Foundation, Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and the ASK Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. For the last four years, Mooney has headlined the Coaches’ Cookoff which raises money for Max’s Positive Vibe Cafe, a non-profit dedicated to training and employing people with learning disabilities.

Mooney has coached 10 Atlantic 10 All-Conference players and seen one player, Justin Harper, drafted to the NBA. 16 former players have gone on to play professionally overseas, including at least one from 10 of the last 11 graduating classes.

2015-16 saw the Spiders make waves in non-conference play before running up against a tough Atlantic 10 slate. Richmond knocked off No. 14 Cal, Wake Forest and Northern Iowa in November and December. UR put together its best scoring average (76.6) since 1980, and set a new school record with 16.6 assists per game, ranking 18th in the country. Richmond also finished fourth in the country in assist to turnover ratio and 18th in field goal percentage. For the second consecutive season, UR was top 20 in fewest turnovers.

T.J. Cline and Terry Allen were both tabbed All-Atlantic 10 Third Team as Cline ranked in the top 10 in the league in points, field goal percentage and assists. Allen was top 10 in rebounds and steals, and was also an NABC All-District Second Teamer.

The 2014-15 season was a return to form for the Spiders as Mooney’s squad put together a record of 21-14, including 12-6 in the Atlantic 10 to place fourth. Richmond finished the regular season on a six-game winning streak, and was one of the “Last Four Out” of the NCAA Tournament at-large field, thereby securing the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage in the NIT. Richmond raced to the NIT Quarterfinals with a win over St. Francis (BK) and Arizona State before falling by just two points to Miami.

Senior Kendall Anthony wrapped up an incredible career that saw him break the school’s all-time three-pointers record and earn All-Atlantic 10 First Team, NABC All-District First Team and VaSID All-State First Team in 2015.

2009-10 and 2010-11 go down as two of the top seasons in Mooney’s coaching career and in recent Spider basketball history. Richmond finished third in the A-10 regular season standings in both seasons, and reached the conference tournament title game twice, winning it in 2010-11.

In the spring of 2010, Richmond earned its first NCAA at-large bid since 2004, garnering a seven seed before being upset in the first round of the tournament. Mooney was named the 2010 Sporting News Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, and was a finalist for the 2010 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award.

That season, the Spiders finished the season ranked no. 24 in the final top-25 rankings, tallying a 26-9 overall record. The Spiders defeated three ranked teams and piled up non-conference wins over Mississippi State, Missouri and no. 13 Florida.

In 2010-11, Richmond brought the pieces back and finished what they started, defeating Dayton in the A-10 championship game to earn Mooney’s first conference championship, the first and only league title since Richmond joined the Atlantic 10 in 2001.

During the regular season, the Spiders racked up victories over the likes of Purdue, Arizona State, Seton Hall and Wake Forest before dumping no. 24 Temple in the A-10 semifinals.

Richmond advanced to the second Sweet 16 in program history by downing Vanderbilt and Morehead State in the NCAA Denver Subregional. The Spiders’ run came to an end at the hands of Kansas in San Antonio. Richmond set a school record with a 29-8 record, finishing no. 21 in the coaches poll.

During those years, the Spiders were led by Kevin Anderson, a 2010 Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and 2010 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. He was a two-time all-conference first teamer and was named the 2011 A-10 Tournament MVP. He also earned a spot on the 2009 All-Conference Second Team and was named the 2008 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year.

Anderson had plenty of help to lead Richmond to national prominence. Justin Harper (2007-11) was a Lute Olson All-American and NABC First Team All-District selection in 2011, while also earning All-Atlantic 10 first team honors. Harper finished with 1,457 career points and 113 career blocks, ranking 11th and eighth, respectively. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft, and saw action for the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons.

David Gonvalzez (2006-10) was another prolific scorer for the Spiders, tallying 1,727 points which currently ranks fifth all-time. He was tabbed to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team in 2010 and was an honorable mention in 2009, while also making the All-Defensive Team in 2010.

Mooney was hired at the University of Richmond at the end of the 2005 season. He had previously coached at Air Force for five seasons, three as an assistant, one as an associate head coach and his final season as head coach. It was his first head coaching job, and in 2004-05, Mooney led the Falcons to an 18-12 record and votes in the national polls. His 18 victories were the most by a first-year head coach at Air Force.

Mooney’s first college coaching experience came at Division III Beaver College, now known as Arcadia University. He spent two seasons there from 1998-2000. He began coaching at the high school level, taking a job at Lansdale Catholic High School in Lansdale, Pa., in 1994. While at Beaver College, Mooney only

coached part-time, spending much of his time as an event coordinator. He helped plan weddings, plan events while also serving as the team manager.

A native of Philadelphia, Mooney played collegiately at Princeton (1990-94) under Hall of Fame coach Pete Carril. Mooney twice earned the B.F. Bunn Trophy, given annually to the varsity basketball student-athlete who, through sportsmanship, play and influence, contributed most to the sport at the school.

He finished second for Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman, honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore, First-Team All-Ivy League as a junior and Second-Team All-Ivy his final season.

A 1994 graduate with a B.A. in English, Mooney led Princeton to the NCAA Tournament twice following a pair of conference titles. The four-year letterwinner amassed 1,071 points, which ranks 20th on Princeton’s all-time scoring list, and started all 107 games in his career. He currently ranks seventh on Princeton’s career list with 142 career three-pointers and is one of five Princeton student-athletes to score 1,000 points, grab 350 rebounds and dish 200 assists.

Mooney is married to the former Lia Chomat, a Princeton graduate who also has a doctorate in psychology from Penn. The couple has two sons, Danny and Ryan.
