FROM THE PRESIDENT & BOARD CHAIR

Message I dyllwild Arts has always been on the cutting edge of arts education, building and exploring new

programs and evolving with the future of education. Becoming a leader in 21st century education is central to our vision and strategic plan. The way we understand teaching and learning is changing, and Idyllwild Arts must be on the forefront of 21st century education, forging a new path.

As we move towards blended learning, we are embracing the connective power of technology while remaining grounded in the natural beauty of our campus. We are transforming our curriculum, learning spaces, and community spaces to create a more flexible, creative, and collaborative educational environment.

2016-2017 was an exciting year for Idyllwild Arts Foundation. We are grateful to all members of the Idyllwild Arts community who contribute in so many ways:

• To our donors: you are always here for us, and we use the following pages of this report to honor your contributions that both fortify us and propel us forward.

• To our Board: your selfless contributions of time, talent, and treasure make Idyllwild Arts the amazing place it is today.

• To The Associates of IAF and all of our volunteers: the time and energy you contribute to our mission is an inspiration to us all.

• To everyone: your participation helps make Idyllwild Arts a global nexus of arts, innovation, teaching, and learning. Thank you!

IN FINANCIAL AID TO OVER 700 STUDENTS

$7MIN 2016-17 WE PROVIDED

We are appreciative to all the supporters of the 24th Annual Jazz in the Pines and our Student Showcase 2017. These events brought together thousands of people to celebrate our students and the arts, while raising over $250,000 for scholarships.

Here are just some of the things we achieved with your help this past year:

• We provided $7 million in financial aid to over 700 students.

• We began to re-imagine our learning spaces with modern furniture, write-able walls, and improved technology.

• We launched initiatives for campus safety which include the use of cameras, ID badges, and tracking attendance at major campus events.

• We expanded professional development for faculty and staff focused on 21st century teaching methods and skills.

• We began the process of improving wayfinding and signage on campus that would transform Idyllwild Arts into a safe, friendly, navigable place for all visitors.

Your support allows us to achieve our mission, vision, and strategic goals. Together, we are supporting the citizen artist and ensuring that an Idyllwild Arts education remains relevant in the decades ahead.

We thank you for joining us on this journey.

Sincerely,

Pamela Jordan Jeff Dvorak President and Chair, Head of School Board of Trustees
