Google Contact Lenses, developed by Verily Life Sciences (formerly called Google Life Sciences), is a smart contact lens project that aims to assist people with diabetes by constantly measuring the glucose levels in their tears.
Diabetics must currently prick their fingers throughout the day to measure blood sugar levels, but Google believes the contact lenses would be less invasive and allow people with diabetes to check glucose more often and more easily.
The chip and sensor are embedded between two layers of contact lens material and a tiny pinhole let tear fluid from the eye reach the glucose sensor, and the sensor can measure levels every second.
