samos® PRO COMPACT – safe and communicative Integrated Ethernet protocols and additional Gateway modules for safety control In addition to the industrial Modbus/TCP Ethernet protocol, the Profinet-IO protocol is also directly integrated into the samos® PRO COMPACT SP-COP-ENI modules. The major advantage to the user is that no additional module is required for Profinet-IO or Modbus/TCP communication, thus saving on costs and space in the switch cabinet. There are also corresponding Gateway modules available for the Profibus-DP, CANopen and EtherCAT field buses. Communication project planning is realised via samos® PLAN5+, the graphic programming tool from Wieland Electric. Thanks to the intuitive Gateway configuration menu, the planning for the respective network integration is simplified. Remote maintenance of the respective machines or systems is possible at all times via the integrated Ethernet interface and VPN access. Wieland Electric also offers perfectly matching products and services in the form of its wienet routers and Wie-Service24.com. samos® PRO COMPACT is only 45 mm wide, yet it covers a wide range of safety applications. It enables safety solutions to be simplified and markedly reduces the cost and effort involved. If needed, samos® PRO COMPACT can be expanded up to 168 safe

inputs and outputs by adding modules – thus enabling safe automation of large machines and systems. With its 4 A switching capacity at each individual system output and at temperatures ranging from -25 °C to +65 °C, samos® PRO COMPACT can be used everywhere. Safe and conforming to standards For safe system operation, all inputs and outputs are equipped with uniquely assigned visual displays that show the operating status at all times – simple and effective. samos® PLAN5+ ensures compliant machine documentation with a customized report. The module fulfills all safety standards, of course, among them being SIL CL 3 according to EN 62061 and PL e / category 4 according to EN ISO 13849-1.
