Dear Friends,What an eventful year it has been! In addition to continuing our great work with community

granting and scholarships, we have been very involved with ourGIFTVI fundraising goals and ourYouth Philanthropy initiative this past year. Each of these opportunities has enabled us tosignificantly grow in our ability to positively impact our community.

Our GIFTVI fundraising initiative was enabled by a tremendous matching opportunityfromLilly Endowment.Through the hardwork of our volunteers and staff, and the generosity of ourmany donors, we were thrilled to be able to reach our goals and bring the full extent of the GIFTVImatching funds into our county. A key focus of the GIFTVI initiative was to grow our communitygranting funds, and by successfully earning the GIFT VI match, we have strengthened ourcommunity granting potential for the years to come.

Another exciting initiative this past year has been our Youth Philanthropy organization.Students from each of the Ripley County High Schools have volunteered their time to establish ayouth philanthropy club at their schools and for the county overall. We have been impressed by thegreat work that these students have been able to accomplish. The students drafted their missionstatement, identified needs in their school/county, participated in fundraising, and awarded grantsafter reviewing applications. This was a significant accomplishment by everyone involved andwe arelooking forward to the future of this program.

As always, the great work we do every day would not be possible without all of you.We havesuch incredible support throughout Ripley County and are forever grateful to the countless donorsand volunteers whomake everything possible.Thank you somuch for your continued support, time, and generosity!

Sincerely,

Amy Streator Eric BenzExecutive Director Board President 2016

• Tanner Tucker Pay It Forward FundSouth RipleyHigh School student,TyTanner and two of his classmates, Elijah Roepke andKaleb Riley, hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament as part ofTy’s senior “Pay-It-ForwardProject”.This project is sponsored by South Ripley High School AP English teacher,MaryGehring and asks students to design a project that gives back to their community. Thestudents are required to develop an event proposal, write up the project’s specifications, andcreate a final presentation which details the project’s completion.

Ty, Elijah and Kaleb used this assignment to memorialize Ty’s older brother, Tanner, whowas killed in a car accident in 2010. They decided to assume the responsibility of hosting

“The Tanner Tucker 3-on-3 Tournament”. While meeting classroom requirements, this tournament holds adeepermeaning for these three hosts. This tournament is held inTanner’s honor becauseTanner greatly enjoyedhis involvement with school and AAU basketball teams. This tournament is a fundraiser and the money raisedthrough this tournament was to be placed inTanner’s memorial scholarship. However, when the boys realizedthat the proceeds could receive a 100% match if they created a new fund in Tanner’s memory, they opted toestablish the Tanner Tucker Pay It Forward Fund.Tanner was a young man who was communityoriented. He was the president of his class, the leaderofmost activities in which he was involved, amemberof Student Council, a member of Versailles BaptistChurch and a volunteer for Special Olympics. TheTanner Tucker Pay it Forward Fund will be able tobenefit the activities which were special toTanner.

• Harmeyer & Johnson Families FundStarting a family endowment to benefit the Southeastern IndianaYMCAwas a naturalfit for our philanthropic goals. Our kids each attended theYMCA Learning Centerfrom early preschool years through summer camp, and now theY is our second home, literally! Building a culture of philanthropy for our kids to learn was an importantfactor inmaking a decision to open an endowment at the Ripley County CommunityFoundation. Through our work at theY, we have seen the community foundationsupporting projects that were meaningful in the community, and we have grown toappreciate and trust their use of community dollars. We also have seen the power andimpact of a single gift to someone in need. For us to provide one single gift through anendowment and watching it grow to perpetuity, our wish is that others will follow, believing that when philanthropy thrives, our community will thrive also.

By establishing this fund, my family and myself, will be able to have a positive impact on Ripley County today and tomorrow. Hopefully, this fund will instill inothers a desire to serve their community and to share their blessings with others.
