A Presentation and Discussion with Author and Writer for The Florentine, Linda Falcone
If They Are Roses: The Italian Way with Words
Unravel Italy’s idiosyncrasies and experience its essence in a
book that topples communication barriers and provides an idiom-
inspired road map to life in the Bel Paese.
Linda Falcone
Born in northern California and raised in a bi-cultural family, Linda Falcone is currently celebrating two decades of permanent Italian
living. An ex-language teacher who loves the rhythm of irregular verbs as much as the sound of the rain on the roof, she is a lecturer of
Italian culture and travel writing for American university programs in Italy. She is also an investigator of idioms, leaving few phrases
unturned during her seven-year stint as a cultural columnist for The Florentine. Since 2009, Linda has served as director of the Advancing
Women Artists Foundation and co-authored several books and documentaries on women artists including Art by Women in Florence: A
Guide through Five Hundred Years and When the World Answered: Florence, Women Artists and the 1966 Flood.

Drawn from her column in The Florentine, Linda Falcone’s If They Are Roses is the sequel to the best-selling Italians Dance and I’m a Wallflower.
It clues into a country in which affection is abundant, jobs are scarce, art is more available than oxygen and soccer and style are one in
the same. It explores a language worth deciphering: being a ‘doctor’ has nothing to do with medicine, ‘My mother!’ is a substitute for ‘My
God!’ and al dente pasta proves a moral dilemma.
Discover the heart of everyday Italy, where conversation is as rich and energizing as coffee and wit is the daily bread of the common man.

Book Presentation of ‘The Third Muse’ with Author Dana Micucci
New York journalist Lena Leone is beautiful, successful, and has a devoted boyfriend. Yet something is missing. When her editor sends
her to Paris to investigate and write about a stolen Renaissance masterpiece, the Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni, she becomes immersed
in a dangerous art scandal that tests her to the core and jeopardizes her life. Lena’s haunting visions of Giovanna in Renaissance Florence
turn up the heat.
The Third Muse combines mystery, suspense, history, and spirituality with radiant eloquence. Dana Micucci masterfully explores the
timeless quest for wholeness through the soul connection of two women six centuries apart. At the heart of her exquisite novel is a story
of unbridled heroism that will inspire strength and courage in women for generations to come. Discover the seven life-altering initiations
that lead Lena not only to solve the mystery of the stolen painting but to open to a more expansive love.
“This beautifully written mystery, set in the international art world, expresses a deep heart-centered wisdom inspired by Renaissance
ideals and the goddess archetype. In our own time of great change and rebirth, Dana Micucci celebrates the return of a divine feminine
consciousness and the power of love.”
Marci Shimoff, New York Times bestselling author of Happy for No Reason and Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul
“Dana Micucci’s The Third Muse is a wonderful blend of spirituality, history, suspense, and intrigue. At its center are the deep divine
feminine mystery teachings of the Magdalene Order. This novel serves as a powerful vehicle of awakening and remembrance for the
many present-day members of this Order who have yet to discover who they are.”
Catherine Ann Clemett, author of Soulweaving and co-author of Anna, The Voice of the Magdalenes
“The Third Muse is a captivating read! From the intriguing international art scene to time-traveling through the Renaissance, you will
be inspired and touched by the spiritual exploration of this book.”
James F. Jereb, Ph.D., award-winning author, visionary artist, and founder of the sacred site Stardreaming
Dana Micucci has enjoyed a decades-long career as a widely published journalist and author writing about culture, travel, and spirituality.
Her last book, Sojourns of the Soul: One Woman’s Journey around the World and into Her Truth, was a gold winner in the 2013 Nautilus
Book Awards. She conducts transformational talks and workshops nationwide. DanaMicucci.com

A Short Presentation on the Life and Work of Florences Mayor, Piero Bargellini
Add to your calendar
Add to your calendar
The palace was built in 1500 and is one of the most typical private Renaissance palaces in Florence, known also as Palazzo Da Verrazzano.
Piero Bargellini (1897-1980), the grandfather of the pianist Gregorio Nardi, was a wellknown writer, historian and man of culture. He beca-
me a symbol of Florence when he was the mayor of the town during the flood 1966. In his Studio he met the most important Italian writers
and artists of the 20th century, and several projects for Florence were born here. For this reason Bargellini and his rooms present a key to
understand Florence and Italy from “inside”, through a direct and personal esperience.
The Bargellini-Nardi family conserved the Studio with the antique furniture and the objects of Bargellini as it was in the past. The Studio
Bargellini is considered one of the most charming writer’s houses in Tuscany.
At the same time it remains a private place and is used by Gregorio Nardi and his family to make music, write, study, receive friends: in a
typically Florentine way to combine past and present culture.
As we do in our daily life, our guests can sit down on 16th century chairs, touch a Renaissance sculture or look at a 14th century fresco when
they take an apéritif on a confortable sofa.
We found out that in the 19th century also an important musician lived in our palace: Luigi Ferdinando Casamorata, composer and founder
of the Conservatory. Gregorio is the only pianist who plays these beautiful Romances, and our visitors can listen to them in the same place
where they were composed almost two centuries ago.
