In the spring of 2014...students in Marion County were preparing their entries for the annual Recycle Art Calendar Contest. The students were encouraged to think critically about waste reduction, reuse, and why it is important to recycle.

Fourteen students in several grade categories received awards of gift cards valued from $100 to $200. Students with winning entries were also awarded certificates that were presented to them by the Marion County Board of Commissioners, Mid-Valley Garbage and Recycling Association (MVGRA), and Marion County Public Works – Environmental Services (MCPWES) at a televised ceremony in December.

MCPWES and the eight garbage and recycling companies of MVGRA provide ongoing recycling awareness and education by offering presentations, classes,

recycling demonstrations, and free learning materials to the community.
