Morning Walking HoursThe Blackhawk Center’s three lane track is open to the public free of charge for walkers and runners Monday-Friday from 5:30 am to 7:30 am. Shower facilities are available for use after your morning workout.

Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm at Nash Recreation Center. The public is encouraged to attend.

Sibl ing D iscountThe Oregon Park District offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. Registration for all siblings must take place at the same time in order to receive the discount. The discount can only be applied by registering at Nash or over the phone.

Program Refund Policy* A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. * To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. * An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity.* Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. * All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval.* Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes. Passes/cards are non-transferable.

Spring/Summer Registration begins February 27

Annual Pass HoldersAnnual pass holders will be allowed to register on Thursday, February 26. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on February 26 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.

Non-Annual Pass HoldersRegistration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Friday, February 27. Residents will begin at 7:00 am, followed by non-residents at 9:00 am.

FeesFees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

Class ChangesThe Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

ResidencyID is required for proof of residency or a non-resident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.

Waiver Pol icyThe Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

RegistrationOregon Park District offers 5 easy ways to register for programs, passes, and rentals!

Online Registration – Visit us at www.oregonpark.org to sign up for an online ID and register for any of our activities over the web. Online registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, February 28.

Mail-in Registration – Send your payment and signed registration form to Oregon Park District, P.O. Box 237, Oregon, IL, 61061. Please remember to include a check or Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. The Park District is not responsible for mail-in registrations not received.

Fax-in Registration – Fax a signed registration form to (815)732-3736. Please remember to include a Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. Fax registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, February 28, at 9:00 am.

Drop-in Registration – Visit Nash and register for any of our activities, passes, or rentals.

Passes & Dai ly FeesA Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, and Fitness Center.

Racquetbal l & Wal lybal lRacquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

Nash Fi tness CenterThe Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

Group Reservat ionsGroups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance. Contact the Oregon Park District for reservation information.

LockersThe Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. The resident fee is $65.00 and non-resident fee is $80.00.

Mt. Morris Vi l lage ResidentsMt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals, and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.

*Family: Persons must reside in the same household. Each household is limited to two adults, legally married (including civil union and common law marriage), with the exception of full-time students between the ages of 18 and 24. An unlimited number of persons 17 and under can be included under a family membership.

Automat ic Monthly PaymentThis is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

3 Pay Payment Plan Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments! The pass fee is paid on the 15th of month, for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

Age Restrict ionsChildren under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.

Heal th ClearanceAll users are asked to fill out a health history form. Anyone with prior health problems may be asked to obtain a doctor’s release before being permitted to work out. All health forms and doctor’s clearance forms are kept confidential.

Multi-Use SwimMulti-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult. Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

Hot Tub HoursThe hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub. The hot tub is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the hot tub.

Lap SwimSix lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout. New morning lap swim hours will begin March 2nd.

Open SwimAll areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

Nash Recreation Center PoolThe Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.

Age Groups & Swim Tests: Levels 1-6 are for ages 3 years and up. Swim tests can be administered at any open swim. Children being tested are not required to pay a daily fee.

Water Aerobic Classes & Information

StarGuard ClassAges 16 years & UpStarGuard is a nationally recognized lifeguard training program that teaches the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Candidates will be required to complete an online trianing course and will receive hands-on training with actual equipment and realistic situations. Upon completion of a skills test and written test, participants will receive a certification in lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and prevention of disease transmission. Attendance is mandatory and you must be 16 years of age upon completion of the course. Students are required to pass a water test on the first day of class and will not be allowed to continue the course without passing. Ditch the workout and join the party! Zumba® is a dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. The program combines Latin and International music with dance to make exercise fun. Once you try a class, you might just get hooked! Children’s CenterThese programs will help prepare your child for Kindergarten as they learn to interact with their peers. All program supplies are included in the monthly payment. Children will receive a daily snack. Parents are asked to bring snacks twice per year. Request a parent handbook at Nash for more information. Auto Payment is available for this program. Registration for the 2014-2015 School YearRegistrations for 2014-2015 School Year are still being taken. We currently have just a few openings. A $20 deposit to be applied to your child’s first month’s tuition and your child’s birth certificate are required to register. Children need to be the appropriate age on or before September 1, 2014. Please join us on the front lawn at Nash for a cool, refreshing cup of lemonade. This is a great opportunity to cool down, socialize, enjoy the warm summer breeze and, if you would like, enjoy a game or two of Flamingo Bingo!

Join the group any time between 10:30 am - 11:30 am and pay $1 for a cup of lemonade (free refills - same day) and purchase however many bingo cards you would like for Flamingo Bingo. Maple Syrup Time!In late February stop by the Garden Barn near the Community Gardens and learn how maple syrup is made. The complete process from start to finish will be continuously demonstrated during the season. Individuals are welcome to come and visit and watch or help if you would like. The season lasts from late February and, depending on Mother Nature, will extend through the end of March. John Barnhart, Natural Resources Manager, is constantly looking to team up with educators, organizations, and/or businesses to demonstrate and educate

Natural Resource FairThe 4th Annual Natural Resource Fair and Kiwanis Club Pancake breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 25th. This ‘outdoorsee” fair will have vendors who sell organic and natural crafts. Many local park districts, forest preserves, and environmentalists will be represented at this annual event. They will be showcasing their organizations’ natural products and ideologies. There will be area maple syrup producers taking part in a maple syrup contest. Fossil Collecting ExplorationGo on a fossil collecting field trip in one of the areas most well known and hidden gravel pits. The rules of this community-wide contest are simple: as you enjoy the Oregon Park District parks, facilities, and recreation programs, capture these moments on your camera. Submit them by July 18 for a chance to win a prize and have your picture appear in the Winter Activity Guide (online) and on the Oregon Park District website. Photos may be of people, plants, animals, landscapes, etc., but must be in one of our parks or facilities, programs and/or events. Wiggly Wag & Walk WednesdayDog lovers will want to come out to Wiggly Field for the 3rd Annual Wiggly Wag and Walk Wednesday & Pet Fair. This is a free evening of entertainment and fun with your dog! Meet the pet vendors (shop a little, too), bring donations for Paws for Claws and Granny Rose Shelter, see demonstrations, check out Wiggly Field and enjoy dinner at the Park - a hot dog, of course! Vendors will be set up outside Wiggly Field Dog Park (no membership tag required/rabies tag required). However, to utilize the dog park or get up close and personal with some of the trainers and demonstrators, a membership tag will be required (inside Wiggly Field Dog Park). Any time between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm we invite you to participate in the High Card Hound Hike. Owners and their dog(s) will walk a pre-set route through Park West and back to Wiggly Field stopping at check points for “treats” and water for the dogs. Slam-n-JamIf you are looking for a full day of family fun in the park, be sure to save the date for the 2015 Slam-n-Jam event on your calendar: June 13, 2015. Enjoy a Saturday full of fun at Touch-a-Truck, the Splash Pad, the Bags Tourney, Volleyball Tourney, Tennis Tourney, Pickelball Tournament, or one of the many baseball, t-ball and softball games throughout the day. Kids will love the inflatables and Pitch-Burst game. Enjoy entertainment, the Geocaching Event (must RSVP @ geocaching.com), and watch the very popular Celebrity Softball Game (local business owners and residents vs OHS Softball/Baseball players and alumni) at 3:00 pm. There will also be food, beverages and ice cream available to purchase as well as raffle tickets. All baseball games will be played to celebrate the short life of former Park District employee and huge baseball fan, Joseph Kerwin III. Touch-A-TruckCome out and enjoy this free hands-on event for children to see, touch and explore their favorite big trucks, heavy equipment and large vehicles. Check out a fire truck, dump truck, back hoe, combine and so many more interesting vehicles. Each serves a purpose and you can learn about their “jobs” from the operators of these vehicles. The Ogle County Historical Society and Ruby Nash Museum are both affiliate groups to the Oregon Park District. The Ruby Nash Museum contains many Ogle County historical collections including artifacts, books, maps, and photos. ‘Wiggly Field’ Dog Park Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated

by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separateentrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an

agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed

during the winter months and brought back in the spring. We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible.

All users and dogs must have a permit. Upon initial registration, users will be issued a key fob for entry. This requires an $20 deposit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a

permit and receive the rules and regulations.

G E O C A C H I N G Geocaching (geo-cashing) is an environmentally friendly outdoor recreational activity for families and individuals alike. This outdoor treasure hunting game involves searching for hidden objects using clues and GPS (global positioning system) coordinates. There are 10 geocaches strategically placed within and near the Oregon Park District’s parks and facilities. Enjoy learning and taking in the beauty of these destinations while on your real life treasure hunt for geocaches! You will need a www.geocaching.com membership, a GPS device or a GPS-enabled mobile phone so you can navigate to a cache, a pen or pencil to sign the cache log, and you may want to bring an exchangeable treasure! We Create Fun For A Lifetime”Eli te Pacers ClubIf you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, each year, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club t-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every Monday. If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.

Blood Pressure Moni torThe Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our fitness center. It is a fully automatic self-attended monitor. Be heart healthy and happy ~ know your blood pressure!

Lost & FoundLost and found articles are kept a maximum of 60 days and then donated to charitable organizations. If you think you or a family member may have lost something in one of our parks or facilities, please call or visit Nash Recreation Center.

Scholarship ProgramThe Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship. For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark.org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.

Memorial TreeDonate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.

Bird WalkEnjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.

Photo Pol icyThe Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook, and other marketing materials.

F REE Rental Of Fishing EquipmentWould you like to go fishing but lack the equipment? The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.

Night Fishing Permi tsYou can now fish at night in Oregon Park District Parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru the end of the calendar year.
