Ngày xưa, người Việt sử dụng phương pháp chữa bệnh dựa trên nền tảng cân bằng sự điều tiết,giúp con người được khỏe mạnh. Các bài thuốc y học cổ truyền được đúc kết từ những kinhnghiệm trong dân gian bằng việc sử dụng các loại thảo dược thiên nhiên. Các thảo dược này cótrong các loại rau quả dùng làm thực phẩm, trong các loài cây cỏ rất dễ tìm ở miền quê Việt Namvà được lưu truyền qua nhiều thế hệ bằng hình thức ghi chép, truyền miệng. Sau đây là một số bàithuốc thông dụng.

Trị bệnh cảm: Cháo trắng là một loại thức ăn thường dùng cho người bệnh. Lá tía tô có tỳ ấm vàtính nóng, đem rửa sạch và sắc nhuyễn dùng chung với cháo nóng làm cho cơ thể toát mồ hôi,giúp người bệnh cảm thấy khỏe khoắn và thoải mái hơn. Củ hành tây hoặc củ gừng nướng vàngvà thái sợi nhuyễn, dùng chung với cháo nóng hoặc dùng canh rau tần ô giúp giải cảm rất hiệuquả. Ngoài ra, có thể kết hợp với việc xông hơi bằng một số loại lá gồm lá bưởi (hoặc lá chanh), lá

sả, lá bạc hà cay, lá ổi, lá cây dầu gió… rửa sạch cho vào nồi và đun sôi, dùng để xông, hít thởthật sâu để tinh dầu có thể lan tỏa khắp cơ thể, cho đến khi cơ thể toát mồ hôi, cần lau khô mồ hôi,tránh để mồ hôi thấm ngược vào cơ thể.

Trị ho: Rau diếp cá (còn gọi là rau giấp cá) có vị chua cay, tính mát có tác dụng thanh nhiệt, giảiđộc, sát khuẩn, chống viêm và là một trong những vị thuốc kháng sinh tự nhiên dùng để trị ho rấthiệu quả. Rau diếp cá, rửa sạch, giã nhuyễn và cho vào nồi cùng với nước vo gạo, đun sôi khoảng20 phút, sau đó để nguội và lọc lấy nước uống. Ngoài rau diếp cá còn có lá hẹ, húng chanh (cầndầy lá), chưng cách thủy chung với đường phèn, tần ô (cải cúc) chưng chung với mật ong, sau đólấy nước uống có tác dụng trị bệnh ho.

Làm đẹp da: Để làm đẹp da có thể kể đến một số loại trái cây thông dụng phổ biến chứa nhiều khoáng chất, vitamin như đu đủ có chứa papain có công dụng tẩy sáng, chuối rất giàu vitamin, khoáng chất như magiê, kali, sắt, kẽm, acid folic và protein tryptophan. Chọn chuối chín, dầm nát, cho thêm chút sữa bò, nước trộn đều sền sệt sau đó đắp lên mặt khoảng 20 phút rồi rửa lại bằng nước sạch sẽ giúp da trắng mịn màng. Dưa hấu, dưa leo chứa nhiều vitamin A, B6, C giúp trắng da. Ngoài ra, dưa hấu còn có tác dụng bảo vệ làn da dưới ánh nắng gay gắt. Ngoài các loại trái cây còn có một số nguyên liệu khác dễ tìm như nha đam, đậu phụ, trứng gà, mật ong … cũng là những nguyên liệu giúp phái nữ làm đẹp tự nhiên, đơn giản và rẻ tiền.

Một lòng thờ mẹ kính cha

Cho tròn chữ hiếu mới là đạo con

Hầu như người Việt nào cũng thuộc nằm lòng bốn câu ca dao trên; từ thế hệ này sang thế hệ khác. Ai cũng do cha mẹ sinh ra, nuôi dưỡng và dạy dỗ từ thuở sơ sinh đến trưởng thành. Công lao đó cao hơn núi, lớn hơn biển. Vậy, bổn phận của chúng ta là tôn kính và nuôi dưỡng cha mẹ lúc tuổi già. Con cái hiếu thảo với cha mẹ là một trong những phẩm chất đạo đức, chuẩn mực hàng đầu của con người. Nuôi dưỡng cha mẹ là bổn phận thiêng liêng có ảnh hưởng quan trọng đến đời sống tâm linh của mỗi con người Việt Nam.

Cha mẹ đã không ngại cực khổ, khó khăn để con có được cuộc sống đầy đủ, vui tươi và khỏe mạnh. ‘Nước mắt chảy xuôi’ cha mẹ nào cũng mong con cái của mình được hạnh phúc, không buộc con cái phải lo lắng cho mình. Nếu cha mẹ nuôi con ‘không tính tháng tính ngày’ thì con cái cũng nên biết đến công cha, nghĩa mẹ mà làm tròn bổn phận của một người con. Nuôi dưỡng, sống chung với cha mẹ già vừa là bổn phận báo hiếu, vừa là ưu điểm văn hóa, giáo dục cho thế hệ sau. Ông bà đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc giáo dục và truyền đạt văn hóa dân tộc, gia đình cho con cháu đời sau. Chính vì vậy mà phần đông trẻ em Á Châu rất ngoan và luôn vâng lời. Ở nhà thì vâng lời ông, bà, cha mẹ, vào trường thì vâng lời thầy cô. Cho nên nuôi dưỡng cha mẹ là một cách báo ơn. Đồng thời tạo nền tảng giáo dục văn hóa cho thế hệ con em, có ý thức trách nhiệm đối với các thành viên trong gia đình, để truyền thống đạo đức của người Việt Nam vẫn được duy trì và phát huy.

Sống chung với cha mẹ già cũng mang lại nhiều lợi ích kinh tế, xã hội và cũng tốt cho môi trường. Gia đình ba thế hệ tiết kiệm được nhiều thứ như diện tích đất ở (giảm việc phá rừng, xây nhà ở, tốt cho môi trường thiên nhiên), tiết kiệm điện … Vậy, tại sao chúng ta không sống chung với cha mẹ, vừa thể hiện được lòng kính trọng, biết ơn, hiếu thảo với cha mẹ, nhằm báo đáp phần nào công lao to lớn của cha mẹ. Cũng được lắng nghe những lời khuyên bảo đúng đắn của cha mẹ, giữ gìn danh dự, truyền thống tốt đẹp của gia đình mà còn tiết kiệm được các nguồn nguyên liệu quý, hiếm.

Tuy nhiên, trong cuộc sống vẫn tồn tại không ít các trường hợp con sống riêng, bỏ bê cha mẹ, xem cha mẹ là gánh nặng cuộc sống từ đó tìm cách trốn tránh nghĩa vụ chăm sóc; hoặc nuôi dưỡng; đôi khi còn có thái độ, hành vi ngược đãi, xem thường. Cũng không ít người viện lý do vì công việc bận rộn không có thời gian chăm sóc nên gửi cha mẹ vào viện dưỡng lão và ít khi lui tới thăm viếng.

Hiện nay ưu điểm nổi bật của người Việt dù họ sống bất kỳ nơi đâu là con cái rất vâng lời và hiếu thảo với cha mẹ. Khi cha mẹ già, con cái giữ cha mẹ ở nhà để trông nom. Bên cạnh đó, ông bà, cha mẹ thấy vui vì được sống chung với con cháu. Điều đó cũng làm cho sức khỏe và tuổi thọ được gia tăng.
