The 26‐year‐old American pianist has appeared as soloist with theIndianapolis Symphony Orchestra under Gerard Schwarz, Fort WorthSymphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin and Miguel Harth‐Bedoya,Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, in recital at Jordan Hall in Boston, theDame Myra Hess Series in Chicago, New York City’s SubCulture, andAmsterdam’sConcertgebouw.Among the highlights of Chen’s 2014‐15 season are debuts with theMilwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra attheKimmelCenter,andhisreturntotheIndianapolisChamberOrchestra.He also appears in the Steinway Recital Series at the Smithsonian inWashington,DC.ChenreceivedhisArtistDiplomaattheYaleSchoolofMusicin2014asaGeorgeW.Miles Fellowship recipient, and a student of Hung‐Kuan ChenandTemaBlackstone.HisformerteachersincludeJeromeLowenthal,MattiRaekallio, and Edward Francis. EdwardFrancisleads a versatile career inmusicas a pianist, professor, author, administrator, andarts advocate. He holds Bachelor and MasterDegrees in piano performance from CaliforniaStateUniversity‐Northridge,andalsoattendedtheAspen Music School. He has performed solorecitals and concertos with orchestras andchamber groups. He holds faculty positions atCSUN,whereheiscoordinatorofPianoPedagogy,PepperdineUniversity,andMoorparkCollege.HehasservedtheMusicTeachersAssociationofCalifornia in many capacities. He is serving his
sixthtermaspresidentofhisbranchandwasthestateconferencechairin2014. He is also amember of the California Association of ProfessionalMusic Teachers, the state’s af iliate to MTNA, where he served as vice‐president and conference chair for 4 years. A busy clinician, he has alsoauthoredarticles inTheCaliforniaMusicTeacher,was the featuredspeakerat Pedagogy Saturday at MTNA’s 2014 conference in Chicago, and hasserved as adjudicator at many competitions. He has spearheadedmanymasterclassandperformanceprograms,pianofestivals,competitions,andorchestraconcerts.HeisthefounderandchairmanoftheThousandOaksPhilharmonic,aprofessionalorchestrawithanannualsubscriptionseries.In high demand as a teacher, he has developed and maintains asuccessful private piano studio of award‐winning students. His studentshaveperformedandwonhonorsinlocal,state,national,andinternationalcompetitions. They have performed as featured soloists with orchestrasmore than 150 times. Dr.IgorKaračastudiedmusicattheAcademyofMusic inSarajevounderJosip Magdic and Anđelka Bego‐Simunic. Hegraduatedin1996witha Bachelor of Music in musiccomposition. Hehasbeenaguestatdifferent masterclasses in Europe,working with Bogusław Schaeffer,Klaus Huber, Helmut Lachenmann,Marc‐Andre Dalbavie, and MarcoStroppa, among others. In 1999,Karaca came to the United States tostudy composition with Dr. ThomasWells at The Ohio State University,from which he received his DMAdegree in 2005. Igor Karaca has
written three symphonies, a suite for concert band, concertanteworks for clarinet and piano, 30 electronic and electro‐acousticcompositions, and over 70 chamber compositions, including theaward‐wining Wind Trio, BetweenWalls for violin, clarinet andpiano, andHandfulofDustforbass clarinet andpiano.Dr.Karaca isAssociate Professor ofMusic Composition, Theory andTechnologyatOklahomaStateUniversity.Filigree (2015) re lects the in luence of Claude Debussy, ToruTakemitsuandthemoremeditativestreamof theEuropeanavant‐jazz scene. This work is not about melodic or harmonicdevelopment, but rather about the continuous presentation ofdiscretemusicalmoments. Eachmoment can be understood as anopportunity for contemplation, achieved through pitch circularity,harmonicstasis,andformalclosure.

Jeffrey Loeffert is Assistant Professor of Theory and Saxophone atOklahoma State University. He graduated from Northwestern UniversitywithaBachelorofMusicdoublemajorinSaxophonePerformanceandJazzStudies. Loeffert studied in Paris at the Conservatoire a RayonnementRegionaldeCergy‐PontoisewherehereceivedtheMedalled’OrUnanimite,and the Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional de Boulogne‐Billancourtwhere he received the diploma Cycle d’Orientation Professionnel. HereceivedaMasterofMusicdegreeinSaxophonePerformance,aMasterofMusic degree in Music Theory Pedagogy, and his Doctor of Musical ArtsdegreefromMichiganStateUniversity.
Stuart Langsam is currently Adjunct Professor of Percussion at TulsaUniversity.HeholdsaBachelorofArtsinMusicPerformancefromSanJoseStateUniversityandaMastersDegreefromOklahomaStateUniversity.HecurrentlyplayswiththeOklahomaCityPhilharmonicperformingClassics,Pops,Ballet,andYouthConcerts. Someofhisotherperformancecreditsinclude:theKansasCitySymphony,StocktonSymphony,TulsaSymphony,Ft. Smith Symphony, the Vietnamese American Philharmonic Orchestra,and the National Children’s Choir. Stuart has composed and arrangedmusicforbothhighschoolsanduniversitiesinCaliforniaandOklahoma.In2011, he presented a marching percussion exhibition at PASIC with theOklahomaStateUniversityDrumline.HecurrentlyworkswiththeShawneeand Enid High School Marching Bands and is a proud endorser ofInnovativePercussionSticksandMallets.
NatasaKaurin‐KaračaisLecturer inAuralSkillsandMusicAppreciation,andCoordinator of ClassPiano atOklahoma StateUniversity (OSU). SheholdsaBachelorofMusicinMusicTheoryandAuralSkillsPedagogyfromtheUniversityofNoviSad,Serbia,andaMasterofMusicdegreeinChoralConducting fromOhio State University. Her teaching experiences includeteaching general music and leading choral programs at the elementary,high school, and college levels in Bosnia and the United States. Prior tocoming toOSU, shewas anArtist inResidence for theGreater ColumbusArtsCouncilinColumbus,Ohio,andattheNationalTheaterOperahouseinhernativeSarajevo,Bosnia. Canadian pianist, Heather Shea Lanners,is Assistant Professor of Piano and PianoPedagogy at Oklahoma State University.She holds degrees from the University ofWestern Ontario (London, Canada), theEcoleNormale deMusique, (Paris, France)and the Eastman School of Music(Rochester, New York). Ms. Lanners hasworkedastheOperaCoachattheClevelandInstitute of Music and the University ofAkron. Professional engagements haveincluded performing as the pianist for the
Cleveland Opera on Tour, the prestigious Meadowmount School ofMusic String Camp, and the Holland Summer Music Sessions. Ms.Lannerswillperformat theDublin InternationalPianoFestival in Julyof2015.Korean‐American pianist HyunsoonWhangisapassionateperformeranda dedicated teacher. Since the age oftwelve, shehasperformedmore than600 concerts in North America,Europe,Iceland,JapanandKorea.Herstudents have won scholarships andgraduateassistantships toprestigiousinstitutions such as the Aspen MusicSchool, Indiana University and theUniversityofNorthTexas. Min Kim completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in PianoPerformanceandLiteraturewithaminorinCollaborativePianoattheEastmanSchoolofMusic.Pianist Thomas Labé enjoys a multi‐faceted career as a teacher, performer,recording artist and published scholar.Recent performances have taken himacrossEuropeandtoIndia,Taiwan,HongKong, and Shanghai. His discography ofinternationally released recordings isheard on the playlists of classical musicradio stations the world over, and hisYouTubechannelhasgarnerednearlytwomillion views. As a member of TheRecording Academy, he takes part in thevoting processes for the annual GrammyAwards. Sergio Monteiro, head of the pianoprogram at Oklahoma City University'sBass School of Music, completed hisbachelor’s and master’s degrees at theNationalMusicSchoolofRiodeJaneiro.In2000hewasawardedascholarshipbytheMinistryofCulturetostudyattheEastmanSchool of Music, where he earned hisDoctor of Musical Arts under Nelita True.In2003,Dr.Monteirowonthe2ndAnnualMartha Argerich International PianoCompetition in Buenos Aires. He haslectured, adjudicated, and led masterclasses at schools around the world. In

Dr.ThomasLanners,ProfessorofPianoatOklahoma State University, maintains avaried career throughout the U.S. andabroad as a solo and collaborative pianist,recording artist, writer and clinician. Hisperformances have been broadcastnationally and internationally on programssuch as American Public Media’sPerformance Today. His championing ofAmerican piano music has culminated inthree critically praised CDs of works bycomposers Ned Rorem and LeonardBernstein. He holds graduate pianoperformance degrees from the Eastman
School of Music, and his major teachers include Barry Snyder, JohnPerry, and Jerome Lowenthal. Thomas won the Oklahoma MusicTeachersAssociation’sDistinguishedTeacherAwardin2014.
Patrick Lahan, Laguna Beach, Florida,beganstudyingpianoattheageof ive.Afterinitially studying business administration,Patrickwent back to school to studymusicandreceivedBachelorofMusicdegreesfromFlorida State University in pianoperformance and music theory. He thenearned a Master of Music degree in pianoperformance from the University ofMaryland.
