Meet, Greet & Mingle! #2 PAP-AASP 2015 Conference, Cebu

1. Speed-dating activity. We began the MGM with a fun interactive activity facilitated by Bea Torre, co-coordinator of the SI group.

SIG members sat along two rows of chairs facing each other. Each pair were given a few minutes to meet, greet and mingle by discussing the following questions.

After the allotted time, everyone stood up and moved two seats to the right in order to chat with a new “date”.

The activity ran for four moves, so participants got to meet and chat with at least four different SIG members.

2. Self introductions. After the interactive activity, Bea asked all present to introduce themselves to the group.

We had a good mix of about twenty members in attendance, including newcomers, in the MGM. A few members were unable to join us — they were bringing the rainbow presence in other division and SIG meetings taking place at the same time.

3. Orientation & report. After a quick welcome to newbie members, Bea conducted a short presentation to get everyone on the same page regarding our SIG’s mission, goals, and initiatives. Key points included:

our mission statement (developed during the 2014 Strut Planning)our vision of change for 2020a report on our activities for 2014-2015

4. Goodies, conference programming & upcoming activities. Bea & Eric distributed goodies — the SIG’s latest brochure designed by Jan Castañeda and featuring the results of the 2014 Strut Planning, copies of the PAP’s (2011) LGBT antidiscrimination policy, and flyers for the conference LGBT programming. Eric also invited the SIG members to visit the SIG’s “Booth Anson-Roa” (and buy rainbow pins). Finally Eric shared the good news of two upcoming activities — the second LGBT special issue of the PJP (coming out June 2016) and a 2nd national writing workshop to be facilitated by Dr Allan Bernardo. SIG members requested a fellowship dinner during the conference — which

was organized and took place at Zubuchon IT Park later that Friday 21 August 2015!

5. Attendance. The following were present, fierce, and fabulous during the MGM:
