www.OurTeamWebsite2015.com “One Team, dual squad” approach: By establishing a “One Team, dual squad” approach to teaching and coaching, we can provide our student-athletes with not only the best on-field (and in classroom) hands on instruction and opportunity, but we can also provide the very best and most competitive environment and experience in and under which to most thoroughly and productively enhance both. We will limit participation to an average of around 15 student-athletes per class, realizing that the average will tend more toward the 10-12 total, per class. At 12 players per class, this would give us a team total of 48 players. Given that we will have 10 coaches, this breaks down to an average of one coach per every five players (roughly). (Understanding, of course, that, should we max out at every class level of 15, we would have a total of 60 players, giving us a one coach to every six players ratio.) By keeping both the Varsity and the Junior Varsity squads together on a daily basis for practices, team meetings and all other team functions we can also better establish and grow a more cohesive and uniform overall team dynamic, while at the same time nurturing and promoting level appropriate goal setting, accomplishment and achievement in as competitive and encouraging an atmosphere as possible. The entire team will practice together on all days except JV game days. Team functions will be conducted together, as well. JV Gameday - Players designated for competition will dress and play, with the 5 teaching members of the coaching staff serving as coaches for the game (along with any non- teacher coaches who are available). Would normally expect this to be a total of roughly 15 to 20 players. Varsity practice would be scheduled for 7:00 or 7:30 PM on JV Gamedays, to allow all coaches to attend. The list of players “designated for JV competition” could be a fluid list, allowing for players to be moved between dressing for JV and dressing for Varsity from week to week (making it possible for any and every player to earn the right to dress with Varsity throughout the season). Varsity GAMEDAY - JV squad (players who dressed on Thursday and are ineligible to dress for Friday night/Saturday) preps the game field, then dresses in practice shells (w/practice jersey) and joins Varsity for pre-game warm up and walk through, then removes shells and dons opposite jersey to stand on sideline for game.
