Person crime increased 7.8 percent and property crimes increased 0.7 percent. In 2015, the department reported 26,013 Part I Crimes which represents a 2.2 percent increase compared to 2014 when 25,462 Part I Crimes were reported. Part I Crimes are comprised of homicides, forcible rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies/thefts, vehicle thefts and arsons. “Through the month of July, overall crime in the City of St. Louis was up 14.5 percent, with a 24.9 percent increase in person crime and an 11.8 percent increase in property crime. Through strategies such as hot-spot policing and the dedicated work of our officers, we were able to substantially reduce the occurrence of crime,” said Chief Sam Dotson. “We plan to continue to work towards decreasing crime in our city while also focusing on strengthening community relations.” The department records crime according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) guidelines. Metropolitan Police Department Releases 2015 Crime StatisticsStatistics cite a 2.2 percent increase in overall crime

St. Louis, Mo. - Today, the Metropolitan Police Department released 2015 Uniform CrimeReporting (UCR) statistics citing a 2.2 percent increase in overall crime in the City of St.Louis. Person crime increased 7.8 percent and property crimes increased 0.7 percent.

In 2015, the department reported 26,013 Part I Crimes which represents a 2.2 percent increasecompared to 2014 when 25,462 Part I Crimes were reported. Part I Crimes are comprised ofhomicides, forcible rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies/thefts, vehiclethefts and arsons.
