THE VENUE

Cagayan de Oro is a first class highly urbanized and capital city of the province of MisamOriental in Mindanao, southern part of the Philippines. It serves as the regional center anbusiness hubs for Northern Mindanao (Region X), and is part of the growing MetropolitaCagayan de Oro area, which includes the city of El Salvador.

The City of Cagayan de Oro is located along the central coast of northern Mindanao island facinthe Macajalar Bay and is bordered by the municipalities of Opol to the west; Tagoloan to theast, and provinces of Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte to the south of city. According to the 201Census of Population, the city has a population of 602,088 people, making it the 10th mopopulous city in the Philippines.

Cagayan de Oro is also known as the Cityof Golden Friendship, the Heart of

Northern Mindanao, Gateway to the Landof Promise, the City of Gold andAdventure Capital of the Philippines for itsfamous whitewater rafting or kayakingadventures, one of the tourism activitiesbeing promoted along the Cagayan deOro River.

Official venue of this year's Philwater is the Limketkai Luxe Hotel. This hotel is currently the firLEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building in the Philippines to b

certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The hotel was also endorsed as the first gold hotin the Philippines.
