On November 18, 2015 Georgia Manufacturing Alliance (GMA) will host the first annual Georgia Manufacturing Summit. This event has been created by industry leaders to support Georgia manufacturers and has been designed to address the specific needs of the Georgia manufacturing industry.

The Summit is expected to attract over 300 attendees during this inaugural event. Manufacturing professionals from a wide variety of industries will be represented. The speakers and their presentations are carefully selected to benefit leaders across a variety of departments. Leaders in human resources, operations, logistics, engineering, and production will gain valuable insight and information that can be used to improve daily operations.

GMA, formerly NetworkingMFG, has been serving the manufacturing community since 2008 with a wide variety of networking events, tours, and educational sessions. The leadership team is constantly looking for unique ways to serve Georgia’s growing community of manufacturing professionals and to promote the industry. The mission of GMA is to create profitable business connections for its members through direct referrals and the events it provides.

Because of the need to help manufacturers sell more products, GMA created the country’s first trade show that draws attention to goods made in a single state. The Georgia Manufacturing Expos in 2013 and 2014 were huge successes, each with more than 75 exhibitors and over 1,000 attendees. The 2015 Georgia Manufacturing Summit carries the same enthusiasm of the previous expos, but will focus more heavily on education of manufacturers and new programs available to them.

GMA has created mutually beneficial strategic partnerships with APICS and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. All three organizations benefit from a single-source calendar of events, and from improved communication among their member companies.

The 2014 Georgia Manufacturing Expo awards program was the first of its kind to celebrate the contributions of leaders in the local manufacturing industry. Lt. Governor Casey Cagel participated by presenting the “Plant Manager of the Year” award. Dan Campbell, of Hire Dynamics, and Mike Wiggins, of South Wire, presented the “Frontline Leadership” awards. The 2015 awards program will be named “The People of Manufacturing” awards Two new categories have been added to recognize small groups who have demonstrated success throughout 2014 and 2015. These team awards will be presented to acknowledge success in “Operational Excellence” and “Safety.”
