EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE
Greetings Fellow Elks and Friends, The heat is on!! A big thank you to Gary Laudisi for fixing the air conditioning upstairs as well as installing the new ovens in the kitchen with the help of Hugh and others. Great job by Amanda for running the convention and Joe Chickene for the usual outstanding Flag Day Service. The lodge has two major events this month where we can use the help of all members: The Fluke Tournament, July 24th and 25th, and the Special Children’s Picnic on July 29th. Hope to see
you there. Regarding Membership—we have brought in 9 new members so far, unfortunately 9 have passed away. We have lost a few demits and gained a few. The delinquent list is at the bar. Please take a look and see if you know anyone that you can contact so that their dues get paid. See you around the lodge!! Fraternally yours, Bob

Flag Day Service
By Joe Chickene, Chairman
Once again, we had a gorgeous day at Veteran’s Park to celebrate the meaning of “Old Glory.” Lots of people
came and lots of people helped. It was truly a “Glorious” day that was enjoyed by all.
At the risk of forgetting someone, I want to thank ER Bob and the Lodge Officers for a splendid rendition of the
Flag Day Ritual , Joe Leo for leading us in song, Ron Panuska and Mike Travisano for helping with the History of
the Flag and for beautifying Veteran’s Park, Nancy DeVito for assisting with our sound system, Gus Adamo for
making our ceremonial wreath (from his hospital bed) with assistance from John Kaufman and Joe Abradi, Eileen
Miller’s coverage in the Antler, Betty and Dennis Torode for coordinating the Scouts, Sue Gajewski for arranging
for the Joint Base Color Guard, Piper Tom Nixon for playing Amazing Grace, Chris Resotko for rendering the
History of the Flag, Marianne Chickene for making the programs, Dino Castronova for his moving rendition of the
Flag Day Toast, Point Pleasant Borough Council President Toni DePaola for her inspiring address, and lastly, Brian
Coyle and his House Committee for preparing and serving our lunch after the ceremonies.
As you can see, a lot of people helped put this together and I thank them all. Please forgive me if I have inadver-
tently forgotten anyone.
Elk of the Month By ER Bob Byrnes and The House Committee
Terry LaDu
Our Elk of the Month for July is Terry LaDu. Terry has been an active member at our Lodge for many years. He does an amazing job as our web-master; keeping our website up to date with all of our information including weekly Friday Night Dinner Menus and publishing the Antler online. With the world trying to move to a paperless environment, Terry’s job has become increasingly demanding and important so that all of our members can stay informed as to what is going on at our Lodge. He also programs the electronic sign in the Grill Room with upcoming events and fun facts to keep our members and guests in the loop. Terry also sends out the Lodge’s weekly email with the Friday Night Dinner Menu and reminder of upcoming activities. Terry is a regular in the Grill Room supporting our many Lodge events. Also, after years of volunteer-ing at BPOE 1698’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner, last year Terry took the lead as chairman and helped organize a great day for our community. Terry, thank you for your fast, efficient work as our webmaster and for all that you do to support the Point Pleasant Lodge. Congratulations on being our July Elk of the Month!
Shufflers by Dave McWilliam
The 2014/2015 year ended at the end of May with two repeat champions. Camille Cimino again
was the Women’s winner with 13 hangers this year while I retained the Men’s champion position again
this year with 9 hangers.
Rosemary Tassie, Stephanie Pandalfo, and Lois McWilliam were well behind Camille with 3
hangers each. Judy Travisano was next with 2.
Jack Cimino, Gus Adamo, and Steve Pandalfo were bunched with 7 hangers each, tying for sec-
ond place for the men. Gus Schipani, a regular top player, had 5 hangers but he, as many of our
other players, had extended visits to the hospital which cut into their hanger counts.
We will continue with practice sessions during the summer on Thursday nights and resume the
new season the Thursday after Labor Day. A kickoff dinner will be held early in September.
Building & Grounds Committee If you are a tradesman or woman (carpenter, painter, etc.), the Building & Grounds Committee could use your help. Please consider joining us at our next meeting, Monday, July 13th, at 7 p.m.

Veterans Committee
By Nancy DeVito It’s that time of the year again. Our Veterans Committee is in high gear selling our Super 50/50 raffle tickets. I’m putting a lot of faith into the membership this year, so please support the raffle. The more we make, the more we have to support our Veterans/military. They deserve the Best from us. I would like to give a Huge THANK YOU to Pable & Evertz for printing our tickets. They are so kind and generous! Also, thank you to the 7-11 on Broadway for allowing us to sell the tickets in front of their store. I would also like to thank Regina, Irene, Nancy, Bernice, Bob, and Rosemary for giving up their time to sell tickets for our raffle. The raffle will be pulled at the Fluke Tournament on July 25, 2015. So BUY your tickets and maybe even come on down and enjoy a burger or two! This past week our Elks donated money to a family of a fallen soldier, Specialist Roberto A. Perez of Vineland, NJ. He joined the Army and served his unit with distinction as a Cavalry Scout in Afghanistan. He earned his Combat Action Badge. After his deployment and honorable release from active duty, SPC Perez joined the NJ Army National Guard and served as a member of the Gulf Company 250th Brigade Support Battalion during which time he was awarded the Afghan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Combat Action Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. Tragically, a fatal car accident took his life in January 2015 and left his wife and two 2 year old girls without their Dad. NJ lost a hero. This is why I urge you to help us support our hero’s who give their all for our freedom. In the picture above, I am handing the donation for Specialist Roberto Perez’ family to Senior Officer Nicholas R. Priessnitz with the assis-tance of Regina McCabe.
On June 16 we ran our first fishing trip of the season aboard the one and only Ideal boat. Thank you to the fishing club’s crew and to my fellow Elks in making this a memorable event for our Air Force. It was a little foggy but NO RAIN! They actually caught a few keepers.
June 24, the USO is hosting a baby shower for 100 expecting military Moms. Thank you to Stephanie Pandolf, the friendly Senior Group from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ladies Lydia Circle, Hannah Knipe, Camille Cimino, Carol Lucrezi, and Bernice Clegg for the beautiful afghans, car seat blankets, bonnets, receiving blankets and crib blankets,
all hand made. They are so beautiful! I can’t wait to see their faces when they see the amazing workmanship! A lot of time and energy went into the craftsmanship of these blankets. They were made with love! Thank you so much. In July we will be having our second fishing trip, raffle, and will be working picnic’s at the base. Don’t forget, if you wish to buy a paver, see Mike Travisano. And, if you wish to donate goodies for our care packages, let me know. God Bless America and those who served/serve!
