2014 Kodokan Kata Seminar and OJU Kata Championship
Informa;on and Entry Forms !The Black Belt Registry of Judo NSW (JFA) is happy to announce it is hosting the 2014 Kodokan Kata Seminar and OJU Kata Championships in August 2014. The Kodokan Judo Institute is sending three preeminent Kata instructors who have taught many students in many countries around the world; Utsugi-sensei, Katada-sensei, and Nagai-sensei. Please refer to the end of this document for their profiles. !The Kata Seminar and OJU Championships are open to all OJU affiliated and registered members who are over 16 y.o., and 3 Kyu grade and above. 12 y.o. and above may participate in the Nage no Kata session on 23 Aug and perform Jr. Nage no Kata at the Championships. !Kata Judge certifications will also be held with the OJU Kata Championships. Kata Judges must also be an OJU registered member and at least a Shodan grade. Judges will be certified to State (Shodan min), National (3-Dan min), and OJU (4-Dan min) levels. If you would like to judge at the World Kata Championships, you must be certified as an OJU Kata Judge. This year the World championships are being held in Malaga, Spain. !Important Dates

OJU Kodokan Kata Reception The OJU Kodokan Kata Reception will be held on Saturday Evening, August 23rd from 7pm –11pm. Final details, to be advised prior to the course. All course participants are welcome to attend and participate in the celebration. !Entry Forms There are three entry forms to complete and included in this package.

Fees Schedule • OJU Spring Kata Course $350 for the 4 days or $100 daily rate (10% discount will
be given on the $350 payment only for payments made by 25 Jul 2014) • OJU Championship Aug 24th Entry fees
- $50 per person only, for multiple Kata entries for course participants - Otherwise $50 per person per Kata entered for non-course participants - Course discount does not apply to competition entry fees !

To find out hotels in the Sydney Olympic Park, please go to http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/stay_eat_shop/accommodation. It should be a nice long walk (2+km) or short taxi ride from these hotels to the venue. !Eateries The closest eatery within walking distance to the dojo is the Armory Wharf Cafe (http://www.armorywharfcafe.com), which is located also at the end of parking lot. According to their webpage, they open from 8:30am. The next closest eateries can be found at the Newington shopping centre, which is about 20 minutes away by foot.

!New Judo NSW State Dojo The Judo NSW State Dojo has moved from a tent to the Newington Armory in the Sydney Olympic Park. It is located about 2KM from the old dojo. !Access to the Judo NSW Dojo The Kata seminar and championships will be held in the new Judo NSW Dojo in the Newington Armory, which is a part of the Sydney Olympic Park (http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/whats_on/parks/newington_armory). Please find the map at the end of this document. There is plenty of parking during the weekdays, but weekends may get crowded after 10am. Get to the dojo early. !There are a few bus lines that run near the new Judo NSW dojo; #525, 526, 540, and 544. Please refer to the NSW Transport website for information and timetables; www.sydneybuses.info/routes. !For the adventurist, there is the Parramatta River Ferry (F3), who’s terminal is a short walk away; www.transportnsw.info/en/maps-and-timetables/index.page !!
! !Note that Google Maps and other navigation tools may attempt to direct you through a closed gate before the parking lot. Do not enter through these gates. Please continue on Jamieson to the parking lot and continue to the dojo from the end of the parking lot by following the train tracks and letters below. !!
