Day 2: Norms and Standards

By the end of this session

you will be able to:

• Articulate the moral purpose of the work that

Teacher Centres do

• Present a vision for an ideal Teacher Centre

• Demonstrate familiarity with the Draft Norms and

Standards for Teacher Centres

• Describe what your Teacher Centre is doing well

in terms of the Norms and Standards

Activity 1: The Moral Purpose

Watch Video: The Moral Imperative

Task 1: Write own reflections on questions

Task 2: Give One – Get One

Each person shares only 1 idea with each person

Task 3: Ideas for getting buy-in from others

Activity 2: Building a Shared Vision

Use the guidelines to create a vision

statement;

Share your vision with your facilitator;

Checklist – is your vision

• Memorable

• Written in simple understandable language

• Achievable in the next 5 years?

And

Will my vision help my centre achieve a better

purpose?

Activity 3: Actualising your ideal

• Gallery Walk strategy

• Groups of 5 – assigned a home exhibit

• Answer the question on your home exhibit

• Then rotate and visit other exhibits

• Comment on other groups’ answers

Activity 4: My centre’s progress

• Sit at tables of same province

• SWOT analysis

• Alignment to Norms and standards
