A lot of times people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.

Today’s Challenge
How might we meet the evolving needs in our field?
!
Global and Diverse
Leveraging an increasingly global workforce
!
» How might we connect different cultures and values to a common purpose?
» How might we fuse our market impressions to our succession pipeline?
» How might we embed diversity as the norm in succession planning?
» How might we make succession management a virtual, inclusive and self-sustaining phenomenon?
!
Redefinition of Work
Redefining the construct currently known as “job”
!
» How might we open source succession management?
» How might we plan for jobs and roles we cannot know?
» How might we help people do the work they want to do without assuming the roles the do not want?
» How might we plan and manage for work to be done instead of roles to be filled?
!
BRAINSTORM IDEAS
The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas.
— LINUS PAULING, SCIENTIST (NOBEL X2)
Brainstorm Ideas
A fruitful brainstorm requires preparation and discipline and creates permission to think expansively without constraints.
It allows for silly or impossible ideas so as to spark relevant and reasonable ones.

Brainstorm Rules IDEO has very few rules, but the rules for a good brainstorm are so important that they are painted on the walls of every meeting room.
Defer judgment There are no bad ideas at this point. There will be plenty of time to judge ideas later.
Encourage wild ideas It’s the wild ideas that often create real innovation. It is always easy to bring ideas down to earth later!
Build on the ideas of others Think in terms of ‘and’ instead of ‘but.’ If you dislike an idea, challenge yourself to build on it and make it better.
Stay focused on the topic You will get better output if everyone is disciplined.
One conversation at a time Allow ideas to be heard and built upon.
Be Visual Try to engage the logical and the creative sides of the brain. A quick sketch can help make your idea more understandable to someone else.
Go for quantity Set a big goal for the number of ideas and surpass it! Remember there is no need to make a lengthy case for your idea since no one is judging. Ideas should flow quickly.
It’s time to brainstorm!
How might we meet the evolving needs of our field?
Storyboards help evolve ideas.
Storyboards
Storyboards quickly reveal the breadth of questions related to an idea’s implementation.
Storyboards help create a shared understanding of an idea in order to create alignment.
Storyboards create an invitation to explore key aspects of an idea.
Create a four-frame storyboard of your idea.
» Who is your target user?
» How will they interact with your solution?
