ORLANDO ARTISTS SELECTED TO SHOW AND SELL WORK AT INTERNATIONAL ART SHOW Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project Showcases Local Artists in a One-Night Gallery at Orchid Garden ORLANDO, FLA. (July 27, 2014) - Orchid Garden hosted more than nine hundred art enthusiasts Thursday night for a local art exhibition as a part of Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project Orlando. The project challenged 20 handpicked Orlando artists to transform a blank canvas-wrapped cooler into an inspired work of functional art. The artists were paired with some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants in the city, and the custom pieces will now live in these locations around Orlando. An acclaimed panel of judges selected artists Marcos Cruz and Gregorii to show and sell their artwork at SCOPE Art Show in Miami during Art Basel week in December 2014. “I’m still digesting it,” said Cruz. “There is so much talent here and it’s an opportunity that is not easy to achieve,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how talented you are if people don’t see what you have to offer, and this will give me that extra exposure.” Artists who participated in Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project Orlando include: Brandon McLean, Andrew Spear, Adaro Art, Wink Styles, Soco Freire, Gregorii, Marcos Cruz, Peter Van Flores III, DRES13, Chris Tobar, Holly Tharp, Christopher Reason, SKIP, German Lemus, Swamburger, Peterson Guerrier, Sean Hartman, Christie Miga, SPEN and Wolfrich. Patrick Kahn, founder of Snap! Orlando, Patty Sheehan, Orlando City Council Commissioner, Erin Sullivan, editor at Orlando Weekly and others in the Orlando art community were among those on the judging panel. “I’m real excited to be here and to serve as a judge,” said Orlando City Council Commissioner, Patty Sheehan. “I think people are surprised to see that Orlando has this kind of creative talent.” All of the artists’ work will be on permanent display in Orlando’s leading entertainment and hospitality spots including: NV Art Bar, Aloft Orlando, Elixir, PR’s Taco Palace, Hawkers Asian Street Fare, The Hammered Lamb, Bar-BQ-Bar, Shari Sushi Lounge, Wills Pub, The Monkey Bar, The Hen House, The Lucky Lure, Santiago’s Bodega, The Peacock Room, Cafe Tu Tu Tango, Orlando City Soccer, Whats2Hot, Park Ave CDs, Plush Recording Studios and Spacebar. In addition to Orlando’s two selected artists, two participants from each of the additional seven cities hosting Red Bull Curates events are entered to vie for the overall People’s Choice Award. The coveted award will give one more artist the chance to join the group show at SCOPE Art Show in Miami. The two artists entered into the pool from each city are chosen based upon the number of social media mentions using their custom hashtag on Twitter.

ORLANDO, FLA.

“It doesn’t matter how talented you are if people don’t see what you have to offer, and this will give me that extra exposure.”

“I think people are surprised to see that Orlando has this kind of creative talent.”

In addition to Orlando’s two selected artists, two participants from each of the additional seven cities hosting Red Bull Curates events are entered to vie for the overall People’s Choice Award. The two artists entered into the pool from each city are chosen based upon the number of social media mentions using their custom hashtag on Twitter.
