26–27 May 2014

 ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL for PAPERS

 The Mathematical Society of the Philippines invites you to participate in its 2014 MSP Annual Conventionto be held on 26-27 May 2014 (Monday -Tuesday) at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center,Iloilo City. The 2014 Convention marks the 41st  year of MSP as the country’s largest professionalorganization dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and mathematics education.

Researchers and educators in all areas of pure and applied mathematics, mathematics education, computing,statistics and other related areas are invited to contribute short papers for oral or poster presentation duringthe convention.

 The convention will feature plenary talks, contributed talks and posterpresentations as well as a session of invited talks by noted mathematics educators. The main plenary talk will be given by Field Medalist Stephen Smale

(Distinguished University Professor, City University of Hong Kong). Prof Smalereceived the Fields Medal --- the world’s most prestigious mathematical award ---for his work on the Poincare Conjecture.

Contributed Talks / Poster Presentations: Short paper presentations (15 minutes) will take place in atleast five parallel sessions (algebra, analysis, graph theory and combinatorics, computing, statistics andapplied mathematics). There will also be poster presentations on mathematics education and any of thetopics given above.

 Those who wish to contribute papers or poster presentations are requested tosend the title and abstract to <kristine.carpio@dlsu.edu.ph>. Indicate if youare submitting for paper or poster presentation. Abstracts (100-200 words)should be informative for proper evaluation by the program committee.Electronic submission (both LaTeX and pdf file) is preferred.  The deadlinefor all abstracts is 22 March 2014. 

Registration: Participants are requested to register on or before 16 May 2014 via any ofthe three following options and send proof of payment of fees tokristine.carpio@dlsu.edu.ph.

Everyone is encouraged to register by 16 May since reservations for food and printing of the conventionmaterials have to be done in advance. There is no assurance that those who register after this date will enjoyall the privileges of the participants who register early.
