Introduction The Giles Pond property consists of 4 claims in one licence #021778M on NTS 12H/10.(See figure 1 and 2) The property was staked to evaluate the gold and base metal potential of the Giles Pond property, White Bay, Sops Arm area of Newfoundland. Two historical gold occurrences known as “Road Showing” and “Cliff Zone” are within license #021778M. (See figure 2.) Location and Access The property is located on the west side of White Bay which occupies the south-eastern part of the Great Northern Peninsula. The property is in the Sops Arm area of Newfoundland approximately 3 kilometres west of Pollard’s Point. The license begins at the Northeast corner of the herein described parcel of land, and said corner having UTM coordinates of 5 510 000 N, 505 000 E; of Zone 21; thence South 1,000 metres, thence West 1,000 metres, thence North 1,000 metres, thence East 1,000 metres to the point of beginning. All bearings are referred to the UTM grid, Zone 21. NAD27. The property is accessible from Route 420 via TCH. Route 420 transects the property therefore providing easy access but the area in general is rugged with steep relief in areas.

Regional and Local Geology The property is located on the eastern side of the Humber Zone of the Newfoundland Appalachians (See figure 3).The principal rocks are Silurian bimodal volcanics, marine siliciclastics and calarenites of the Sops Arm Group. Green schist-grade metamorphism and a penetrative cleavage were developed during the Acadian Orogeny. Major faults in the area, including the Doucers Valley and Birchy Ridge Faults were active during the Acadian Orogeny and are believed to be linked to mineralization in the area. The property is underlain by siliciclastics non-marine volcanic mafics, volcanic felsic, and conglomerates.(See Figure 4)

Exploration History Exploration began in 1898 with prospecting and driving of several adits on the Browning property resulting in 149 ounces of gold yielded from 1000 tons of quartz vein ore making it the first gold producer in Newfoundland. (The Browning property is located just east of the Giles Pond property.) By 1904, legal disputes closed the Browning property. During the 1930’s other gold prospects were discovered within a 5klm of the Browning mine. The most notable being Simms Ridge where a bulk sampling showed limited tonnage grading 0.04 oz/ton Au . All showings were associated with quartz veining and felsite dyke intrusion in Silurian volcanic sand sediments. The prospects were examined several times during 1930’s to 1940’s but with no detailed geological exploration undertaken during that time. The During 1950 to 1984, Brinex held a large land possession over the Jackson’s Arm/Sops Arm area but it had never been systematically explored. Brinex dropped the concessions and Esso Minerals Canada staked a large land position in the area consisting of 281 claims. Reconnaissance sampling produced a number of anomalous areas and showings. The Cliff Zone was one of the anomalous areas. A more thorough field program was carried out during 1986 which consisted of geological mapping, soil and till sampling and trenching. In 1986, rock sampling from the Cliff Zone returned values of up to 3.05 g/t Au over 1 klm section. Till sample from 4 test pits returned over 3.6g/t Au and sampling of heavy mineral concentrates from the Cliff Zone returned values ranging from 2765ppb Au to 7590ppb Au.

Another area, Road Showing, returned anomalous values of Au (up to 340ppb), Pb (up to 1250ppm), Cu (up to 19ppm), Zn (up to 573ppm), and Ag (up to 3.1ppm). Present Exploration Another prospector and I spent several days examining a cliff near the Road Showing Zone. The main focus was to search for quartz veins carrying sulphides. Only narrow quartz veins were found in the cliff. Eleven rock samples were taken from the narrow quartz veins. Samples were sent to Eastern Analytical in Springdale for ICP-34+Au analyses. Analyses returned anomalous gold up to 1.2g/t Au. One sample required ore grade analysis for lead and silver. Ore grade results returned 0.55%Pb and 12g/t Ag.

Conclusion and Recommendations The historical exploration results certainly show the property requires more exploration and hold potential. Future prospecting should include more traditional prospecting, soil sampling and possibly some trenching.
