    Bicycling Safety Top 10 ListRiding bicycles on roadways, or on bicycle-only trails that

    cross roadways, can be dangerous. Follow these safety tips:

    1. Wear a helmet and bright-colored clothing

    2. Ride on the right side of the road

    3. Ride single file and ride predictably

    4. Watch for cars at intersections and driveway s

    5. Riding after dark is not recommended, but wearreflective clothing and use a white headlight andrear flashing red light if you do

    6. Never use earphones because you wont be ableto hear traffic

    7. Select routes according to cyclist skill and age

    8. Follow rules of the road and cycling etiquette9. Keep your bicycle properly maintained

    10. Use hand signals before stopping or turning

    your turns and stops ahead of time. Also, before turning, look over

    your shoulder for any traffic. Check and only move when its safe.

    Prairie-Duneland Trail

    This 12-foot wide paved multi-use trail goes for 10.4 miles,from Chesterton to Hobart.     Dunes-Kankakee Trail

    This trail starts at Indiana Dunes State Park along LakeMichigan and goes south to the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center.Eventually, the trail is expected link the dunes in the north to theKankakee River in the south, as well as going along the river.
