Organisation for Standardisation) is the total absorbency of a product in laboratory

tests. Disposable continence products have a total absorbency (ISO) and a working

absorbency. The working absorbency will depend on the BMI and the physical activity

of the wearer. This can be between 1/3 and 1/2of the ISO absorbency to ensure

security for the wearer.

In this brochure, we have quoted the ISO absorbency and this should be taken into

account when selecting the correct product.

Incontinence is an involuntary loss

of urine or bowel motion at an

inappropriate time or in an

inappropriate place. The amount

can vary from slight to copious. It is

important to remember that

incontinence is not a disease but a

symptom of an underlying disorder.

Incontinence is Common

Incontinence is a bigger problem than

most people realise. In fact, 1 in 3

women and 1 in 9 men will suffer with

incontinence at some point in their lives.

Approximately 20% of women over the

age of 40 have some degree of urinary

incontinence.

Unfortunately, incontinence is still

considered to be a taboo subject with

many individuals suffering in silencewithout getting any help and it is

estimated that there are 3 million

people in the UK that are regularly

incontinent.

The risk of becoming incontinent

increases with age, but 70% of people

with symptoms of incontinence can

be cured or greatly improved with the

help of a medical professional.

Faecal & Rectangular Products

Faecal or urinary incontinence can be

difficult conditions for sufferers to live

with and to try to effectively control.

Conventional incontinence products may

not always be suitable to deal with faecal

incontinence effectively. However,

Abena have a number of products that

can be considered when dealing with

faecal incontinence.

Abri-Let Anatomic

Abri-Let Anatomic has been designed as part of a

two-piece system (fixation pants required) and is an

ideal product to use for faecal smearing. The anatomical,

discreet shape gives optimal comfort for the wearer and

is easier to apply than conventional rectangular

pads. This product should be worn with fixation

pants (page 26). This product is latex free.

Rectangular

Rectangular pads can be a suitable alternative to shaped products for

light urinary incontinence. The adhesive strip on Abri-Let Mini

allows this product to be secured in normal underwear.

However, these products do not contain the stay dry technology

featured in our Premium shaped products.

Abri-Let Normal doesnt have a waterproof backsheet or adhesive strip

making this an ideal booster pad, when extra protection is required.

Fixation Pants Body Stockings

All Abri-San Products from an Abri-San

Premium 5 upwards should be worn in

combination with special fixation products.

Compared to ordinary underwear fixation

products offer a wider crotch area and extra

elasticity, in order to support the pad in the

best possible way, to offer optimum security

against leakage.

In order to obtain the correct size fixation

product, both the waist and hip should be

measured and the largest measurement

used.

Abri-Fix Net can be washed up to 25-30

times and Abri-Fix Pant Super (stretch)

can washed up to 100 times.

To ensure you get the best out of these

products, please refer to the label for the full

washing instructions. These products are

latex free.

NB! Fixation products should never be

tumble dried, as this will cause the product

to lose its elasticity and become ineffective.

Body stockings are an excellent solution

providing extra security for keeping an

incontinence pad in place (to be used

alongside a fixation product).

All our body stockings are made out of 92%

cotton and 8% elastane. These garments

are fully washable at 60C and can be

tumble dried at a low temperature.

Please note these garments may shrink

by 10% upon the first wash.

Measurements are based on the hip,

waist and chest (the widest measurementshould be used).
