May 29-June 4, 2014 will mark the 33rd annual NCAA Women’s College World Series, the pre-mier event for college softball held annually at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. This will be the 24th time that the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium has served as the host site.

The WCWS features the top eight teams in the nation squaring off in a double-elimination tournament format, all vying for the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. Sixty-four teams will enter the qualify-ing bracket, with 31 teams receiving automatic bids and the remaining 33 at-large selections by the Division I Softball Committee. Regional competition will be held May 15-18 on campus sites, with the Super Regionals following the next weekend on eight campus sites.

The inaugural American Athletic Conference Softball Championship will feature all eight conference teams, No. 1 UCF, No. 2 USF, No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 Houston, No. 5 Rutgers, No. 6 Temple, No. 7 Memphis and No. 8 UConn, at Cougar Stadium on the campus of University of Houston from May 8-10. The quarterfi nals and semifi nals on May 8 and 9, respectively, will air live on The American Digital Network at www.TheAmerican.org/Softball.

The championship game will be televised live on ESPN2 on Saturday, May 10 at 4 p.m. ET. The offi cial bracket, championship information, results and team information can be found at Championship Central at www.TheAmerican.org/Softball.

2014 HIGHLIGHTS• UCF played 39 games at the friendly confi nes of the

UCF Softball Complex, tying for the most home con-tests in the nation along with conference-rival USF and Arizona State.

• The Knights started the year with a school-record 7-0 start.

• American Softball Player of the Year Farrah Sullivan overcame a 2-for-45 stretch from Feb. 15 – March 9 and became the most consistent offensive UCF player in league play.

• UCF won the inaugural American regular-season title. It was the fi rst regular-season title in program history.

2014 HIGHLIGHTS• Valerie Sadowl leads the squad in nearly every offen-

sive category. The sophomore ranks fi rst on the team in batting average (.336), runs (21), doubles (9), walks (18) and home runs (6).

• Head Coach Karen Mullins has been at the helm for 31 seasons and has accumulated an 859-598-5 overall coaching record. Mullins is one of just 15 active Divi-sion I coaches to boast 800 career wins.

• Senior Audrey Grinnell has started 191 of 194 career contests as the Huskies’ fi rst baseman since arriving at UConn in the fall of 2010. Since then, she has tallied 1,235 career putouts for fourth place on the UConn all-time putouts list.

2014 HIGHLIGHTS• Haley Outon has established herself as the program’s

premier long-ball hitter as she moved into fi rst place in the record books with her 48th career home run against Nicholls State on Feb. 22.

• Head coach Kyla Holas picked up her 500th win lead-ing Houston to a 12-5 win in 11 innings over Memphis on April 12, 2014. She has been at the helm for all 500 of the Cougars wins.

• Houston is ninth in the NCAA in double plays per game (0.52) and 39th in the nation in scoring (5.69 per game).

• Kendra Cullum is 11th in the nation in hit by pitch per game (0.42).

the season, hitting .360 (49-for-136) and topping the team in nearly every other offensive category.

• Sophomore ace Kelsey Dominik has an 9-11 record with a 3.25 ERA, the ninth-best in the league.

• Stephanie Pasquale ranks 13th among NCAA Division I active leaders in doubles (45) and 31st in RBI (152), despite missing all but 12 games this season.
