Dear Alumni, Friends and Supporters,

The Alumni Association of Thomas More Prep-Marian is proud to sponsor the 40th Annual Auction for Christian Education (ACE) on Saturday, April 26, 2014, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Al Billinger Fieldhouse. This is our largest fundraising event for Thomas More Prep-Marian.

The Hays business community, TMP-Marian parents, alumni, and friends have worked many years together with the Capuchin priests

and Agnesian sisters to keep the dream of a Catholic educational option alive for Hays, Ellis County, and western Kansas. Thanks to you, our alumni, and many others in the business and professional community, ACE is a continuing testimony to your support of, and belief in, our mission. This year's theme is "There's No Place Like ACE", and the co-chairs will be Dean & Julie Haselhorst and Marvin & Jennifer Rack.

We invite all previous donors to favor us again with a quality item(s) for the auction, and we ask new donors to be as generous as your situation permits. It takes a large variety of items to make this event a success. We are counting on your support to help the school.

ACE 2014 will feature a buffet with all seats reserved. Tickets for the buffet and auction are $100 per person for regular seating or $200 per person for VIP seating. Seating at the prestigious Auctioneer’s table is also available at the cost of $300 per person. Tickets can be ordered and gifts can be donated by completing the enclosed form titled: "ACE 2014 DONATIONS" and returning it to the Alumni Office. No ticket reservations will be accepted before February 1st, although reservations mailed to the alumni office with payment received before February 1st will be given first priority for seating. Table seating is available for groups of eight or sixteen, but small groups or individual reservations are welcome too. Please submit reservations and payment for confirmed guests only. If you purchase tickets to attend and cannot use them, please do not give them to someone else. Auction tickets are transferrable only through the alumni office. This is important since each guest is assigned an individual bid number and is responsible for any charges made.

Please use the enclosed return envelope to inform us of your donation. We also have a number of volunteers ready to call on members of the business and professional community to visit with you regarding a donation. An early response will allow quick progress towards the success of our auction, as well as assure that your gift will be published in the ACE catalog. Donation deadline to be included in the ACE Catalog is 3/1/14. Those who contribute a gift or cash, purchase an auction ticket or purchase advertising space in the catalog are invited to attend the Preview Party from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the fieldhouse. Preview guests can enjoy refreshments and buy a chance to win one of two $500 cash prizes.

Enclosed you will find four different raffle tickets for our three $1,000 Cash Prizes, one $2,000 Cash Prize, one $5,000 Cash Prize and a 2013 Ford Focus SE 4 DR! Purchase two tickets for any of the above raffle drawings and receive the third ticket free. Please note that each ticket has a different price… 1) 2013 Ford Focus SE 4 DR Raffle Prize (valued at $17,500) is $100/ticket or 3/$200; 2) $5,000 Cash Raffle Prize is $25/ticket or 3/$50; 3) $2,000 Cash Raffle Prize is $15/ticket or 3/$30; 4) $1,000 Cash Raffle Prize is $10/ticket or 3/$20 – Three chances to win!

Everyone will have the chance to donate to oral auction item #60 even if you do not plan to attend the auction or you can become a "Pennies for ACE" donor. See the enclosed form for more details!

ACE Oral Auction Item #60

Alumni & Endowment Center Fr. Blaine Burkey Center for Research

& Classroom Renovation Project

Help us reclaim the past to build for the future! It is our dream to bring back the historical significance of our resident program by creating an Alumni and Endowment Center along with relocating the Fr. Blaine Burkey Center for Research and adding new restrooms to the top floor of the school. This area has not been used for several years and is slowly deteriorating. A museum/archive display room could also be created if enough funding is available. We would like to utilize this space (used for many years as a dormitory for resident students) to open up additional classrooms which will be needed for the upcoming substantial growth of students. We are encouraging outside donations from all alumni and friends of Thomas More Prep-Marian for ACE Oral Auction Item #60. This will be an extremely costly project since both heating and air conditioning, new wiring and plumbing will need to be completed in addition to the construction costs. Although we don't know what the final price tag will be (architects, engineers, etc. plus renovation costs will need to be factored in), we anticipate the final cost will be in excess of $500,000.00. Our hope is to raise at least that amount before beginning this phenomenal task. Gifts that come in before March 1, 2014 will also be recognized in the ACE catalog. Anyone wishing to fund a major portion of the cost of this project would have the option of having the Alumni & Endowment Center or the museum/archive display room named after them. Pennies for ACE

"Pennies for ACE" is a brainstorm by our very own, Fr. Earl '61 Befort, O.F.M. Capuchin. For many years, Fr. Earl has wanted to start up a "matching gift" fund in conjunction with our annual Auction for Christian Education. We are bringing his vision to life with the beginning of a matching gift fund for the auction. How does it work? Quite simple! Donors to "Pennies for ACE" will donate one penny for each dollar raised at ACE excluding any funds that are raised for Oral Auction Item #60. Take last year's auction for example, ACE raised $630,500.00, subtract Oral Auction Item #60, the Elevator Project - $332,900.00, which leaves $297,600.00. Divide this amount $297,600.00 by 100 (100 pennies in a dollar) and the donation amount from a penny donor would be $2,976.00. We can also place a cap on the donation based upon the amount raised at the previous auction if the penny donor prefers. Penny donors will be acknowledged in the ACE catalog for the current year if their pledge is in before March 1, 2014. All donors will be listed in the ACE catalog for the next auction. Penny donors will also be acknowledged on the school web-site, "The Monogram" and the power-point displays on the night of the auction. Join our very first members of the "Pennies for ACE", Clem '70 Karlin and his sister Agnes (Karlin) '61 Shtogren. Individuals, families, different reunion classes or businesses can choose to display their business name as a penny donor. We would like the penny donors to continue year-after-year, but will accept donors on a year-by-year basis. It is Fr. Earl's hope to eventually have 100+ members to substantially increase the proceeds from the auction.
