2014-2015 ANNUAL REPORT

MISSION & VISION

The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving kids’ lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.

LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER & CEO

“Diego! Diego!”

It’s not often you hear a group of college athletes, usually on the receiving end of traditional chants, all yelling the name of an eight-year-old. This was different though, as Diego happened to be an eight-year-old who became the adopted fandom of Duke University Baseball, who had just completed their third year of raising thousands of dollars for

the Vs. Cancer Foundation and for kids just like Diego.

Where we stand now, in our third year of Vs. Cancer actively battling cancer, is where I also stand proud: our progression of impact is no longer just a ‘feel good story’ of thousands of athletes and communities rallying around helping every aspect of childhood cancer; rather, it is now a story of legitimate impact. Diego, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2013, was treated at one of the 58 children’s hospitals Vs. Cancer has helped since our inception. Diego was on the receiving end of the funds that the Duke Baseball community raised, and proudly, he walked away as a cancer survivor.

While the team shouted Diego’s name, the same scene was happening at literally hundreds of ball parks, lacrosse fields, stadiums and campuses nationwide. Started by athletes and made for athletes, Vs. Cancer is proving that we can and will help create more stories just like Diego’s. We CAN and WILL beat childhood cancer.

To that, we will continue chasing this dream that no child has to hear the words of a diagnosis and fear the outcome, all the while acknowledging that truly, if you are reading this, YOU make this dream actually happen.

Cheers to making more dreams come true, for Diego and the 40,616 other children that have a better chance to beat cancer because of you and Vs. Cancer.

Chase JonesFounder & CEO, Vs. Cancer Foundation
