The Event
On Thursday, March 14, 2013, the Nashville State Community College Foundation, in
conjunction with the Randy Rayburn School of Culinary Arts, will host the 2nd Annual Tennessee
Flavors food and beverage tasting event on the college’s White Bridge Road campus. During the
inaugural event held on March 8, 2012, over 450 attended sampling appetizers, wine, beer, and
numerous other products made in Tennessee courtesy of 45 locally owned restaurants and area
merchants. Due to the enormous success of the event, we anticipate an attendance exceeding
600 this year. Proceeds from the event provide scholarships and critical program needs for
Nashville State Community College students. In 2012, 100% of the proceeds went to the
foundation.

“Tennessee Flavors” Salutes Culinary Arts Program, Local Food and Drink
New event benefits Tennessee’s chefs in training
Allan Benton of Madisonville, Tenn., whose famed Benton’s Bacon has become an honored staple in
restaurants around the country, will be the guest of honor March 8 at a new event that promises to be
one of Nashville’s premier food and beverage celebrations.
Tennessee Flavors, which benefits the Culinary Arts Program at Nashville State Community College, will
feature more than two dozen of the area’s outstanding chefs, wine and beverage producers and food
sources. Some 500 are expected to attend the inaugural party in the handsome NSCC Student Services
Building on White Bridge Road.
“The Nashville food community is always happy to give generously to Nashville’s charities, arts
organizations and other worthy causes, but Tennessee Flavors provides a unique chance to support the
future of our own profession,” says restaurateur Randy Rayburn. “One hundred percent of the proceeds
will go to scholarships for NSCC culinary students – our future colleagues – and to much-needed kitchen
equipment.”
The culinary arts program at NSCC was founded in 1997. It enrolls more than 200 students, and in fall
2011 was forced to turn down another 30 applicants for lack of space. During Tennessee Flavors,
professional chefs will be paired with students who will help prepare and serve the evening’s cuisine.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, who appreciate the support of professionals as they
begin their careers,” says Keith Ferguson, NSCC Foundation executive director.
Tennessee Flavors participants include Jimmy Kelly's, Cabana, Sunset Grill, Midtown Cafe, Tayst, Boscos,
Jackson's, Rumba, Provence, Noshville, Fido, Germantown Café, Germantown Cafe East, Bluebird Cafe,
Copper Kettle, Chef Deb Paquette’s new Echo, 1808 Grille, Loews Hotel, The Wild Hare, Flyte, Chef
Michael Osborne, CEC, Middle Tennessee Chapter of the American Culinary Federation, Chef Anna
Notardonato-Hicks, Tutto Bene Bakery, Chef Cathy Hoormann, Kickin Coffee & Tea.
Tickets, $50 per person in advance, are available online at www.tnflavors.org and can be purchased the
day of the event for $60 pp.
