What We Do:
NWFS’ Counseling Department provides profession-al counseling to individuals, couples, and families in
the areas of: Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Parenting,
Trauma, Eating Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress, andPregnancy Loss.
What We Do:
Counseling Department Manager, Ruth Hayes-
Barba, says,“ Almost everyone at some point in their
life needs a safe place to sort things out and make
sense of what they feel and what is going on in their
life. Counseling provides the environment where this
can happen.”
Feature Story: Rex Putnam High School
One story NWFS would like to share is about a sophomore, Mark, who was
failing ALL of his classes. Aer many meengs, Mark admied that he regularly
smoked marijuana, explained that his father was an alcoholic, and that he oen
used the drug to not have to deal with his home life. We worked with Mark,
and eventually got him to quit drugs, regularly aend class, and do his
homework. Over the summer, we set him up with our CareerFit program where
he was able to secure a job. His condence began to go up, as well as his
movaon. By his senior year, Mark was on track to graduate, sll working
aer school and on weekends, and drug free. This year, Mark connues to
meet with his NWFS Preventnet Coordinator, and we expect Mark to walk as he
accepts his diploma in June!

these families with a place to sleep and a home, My Father’s House seeks to equip families to meet their

equipping individuals with communication, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, parental discipline
and communal living skills. We’ve also been able to work with some couple’s on an individual basis
providing Couple’s Coaching through our Prepare Enrich program. This partnership and collaborationhas provided a great opportunity to help people “Live, Grow, and Succeed!”
