Dear Friends,

Thank you for attending the 2013 Scarlet & Gold Invitational. Now in our fourth year, we continue to host the event for the benefit of “Hope For The Warriors®”. Doug and I are truly excited to be your Celebrity Hosts this year. We kick-off the event on Sunday, September 15th at River Landing. We will also have a day specifically designated to spend time on base with our troops, giving you the chance to interact on a personal basis with our military heroes. We will also continue the time honored tradition of “Warrior Night”, as well as a few exciting new initiatives.

We are proud to support Hope For The Warriors® and their mission: “To enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.” Hope For The Warriors® received Charity Navigator’s Four-Star Rating for the second consecutive year and through proceeds from the Scarlet and Gold Invitational, we are proud to be able to provide financial support to their good works.

As we continue to work to grow our contributions to Hope For The Warriors®, we are fortunate to have the support of River Landing, 1-800-PACK-RAT and Food Lion as presenting sponsors. With the contributions by our sponsors, our celebrities, and our volunteers we look forward to making the 2013 Scarlet & Gold Invitational the best one yet.

We are proud to host this event and welcome you to this fun filled and exciting event.

The swift and sure swing of a golf club. A determined push on a hand cycle. A sigh of relief that the rent will be paid. Each of these sounds are unique and yet each is a signal of hope. They are the sounds that the staff and volunteers of Hope For the Warriors hear each week and the sounds that propel them forward in their work of restoring a sense of self, restoring families and restoring hope in service members. The mission of Hope For the Warriors® is to enhance the quality of life for post 9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Warriors® has grown tremendously in the span of programs offered and the number of wounded and family members assisted. Their programs offer a full cycle of support starting with Immediate Needs financial assistance and continuing through A Warrior’s Wish, Hope & Morale, Above & Beyond Transitional Program, Spouse/Caregiver Scholarships, Family Reintegration Program, Family Support, Team Hope For the Warriors and more.

Through Immediate Needs financial assistance the staff aids overwhelmed families who are learning to navigate the medical centers. As a family transitions from shock, to fear, to acceptance and determination- Hope For the Warriors tracks their needs each step of the way.

Through Hope and Morale Outdoor Adventure programs, wounded service members utilize golf, hunting, fishing, kayaking and more as part of their physical and emotional rehabilitation. The Above & Beyond transitional program has paired service members with mentors- teaching heroes how to succeed within the civilian employment market. Athletes, who run, bike, swim and more join Team Hope For the Warriors, engaging their competitive spirit and allowing them to be defined by their accomplishments, not their injuries.

Family members are an integral part of a service member’s recovery and an important focus of each program. The Family Support Program ensures that the needs of the families are addressed alongside the needs of the service members. Hope For the Warriors® understands the challenges, pride, and joy of being a military family. For today, tomorrow, and years to come, they will strive to meet the changing needs of service members and their families.

TERESA WADE Teresa Wade is a study in contrasts— she studied classical piano for 12 years while growing up as a tomboy in the south, showing horses, and catching catfish with her Dad... She’s a graduate of UGA…A ‘near pro’ golfer… A former pageant queen, who prefers tobe recognized for her talent rather than beauty ... She’s a warm, charismatic charmer on stage…yet a reserved intellectual in private

Wade’s fresh vocal interpretations and ease with an audience betray the fact that she’s been performing all her life, whether at church as a child in Stone Mountain, GA or as a goodwill ambassador overseas. She plays both piano and guitar, and has entertained Olympic athletes, performed at NASCAR events, and graced the legendary stage of Nashville’s Bluebird Café. An independent woman with a wry sense of whimsy, Wade is fiercely wedded to the truth. With a rich blend of musical gifts, she’s a Renaissance woman as earthy as the red clay of her home state of Georgia, with a focused vision expressed through the clear voice of a 21stcentury survivor

A creative dynamo and prototypical overachiever, Wade has woven the strands of her many talents into a tapestry that delights the listener and takes them to unexpected places. As the primary writer (nine out of 10 songs carry her name as co-writer) her new project on Klimbing Kudzu Records, Teresa Wade- the real thing - she expresses a clear-eyed perspective on the struggles and triumphs that make up life’s journey. She turns her every song into a gem of honesty and every note into a gleaming facet, illuminated by her voice. And what a voice! With a passion and versatility that The New York Times’ Phil Sweetland states is reminiscent to Bonnie Raitt, Teresa can tempt you with a whisper, inspire you with soaring melodies, or make you grin with a skilledturn of phrase
