    Homework

Very important that students get into the habit ofcompleting homework every night and taking responsibilityfor their assignments

If your student does not know how to do the homework, itis imperative that he/she gives their best attempt to

complete it. They will seldom be penalized for incorrectanswers. They will be held accountable for lack of effort.

    Parties

Birthday Treats and Celebrations: NSSD 112 has supported efforts to encourage healthier snacks and

modify birthday celebrations. Parents are asked not to send any food or

other treat to celebrate their childs birthday. We are faced with manychildren within our schools that are highly allergic to peanuts, peanut oilproducts, and other food ingredients. We are sensitive to their healthissues. We are also concerned with the amount of interruptions to theinstructional day that the distribution and consumption of birthday treatscan bring. We believe that recognition of students is important and willcontinue to celebrate the birthdays of our students with specialrecognitions in the classroom. Parents may want to consider making adonation to the library to purchase a book for the library or read a book tothe class to honor their birthday at the younger grades.

Parties: We are going to have Halloween and Valentines Day parties this year.

This also aligns with other NSSD112 elementary schools. ** Noticesabout parent helpers will go out as these holidays draw near.
