DIRECTOR’S NOTES I love this show. Often when discussing shows I find myself saying, “I love this show, but…” Not so with Annie--I love this show and everything about it. The script is brilliant, the music vibrant and catchy. The era for costuming and sets is a dream to build and create scenes in. The show contains children, adults, and a dog—what’s not to love?

Working with kids always brings an electric dynamic to the rehearsal space and stage. They are so excited and happy to be working on a project together, learning new things, trying new ideas. They are like open books begging to be written in. And then there are the adults adding a layer of experience and knowledge and comfort to the stage. It’s a beautiful combination. I think you will agree with me upon experiencing this production.

Annie was written in the late 1970’s, but seems fresh and new. Other shows written during that same time period mostly seem dated and are not often performed anymore. Annie has currently returned to Broadway, the second time since its original successful run. It has been performed on semi-professional and amateur stages around the world in record numbers as well. The show is a testament to what keeps us all coming back to the theater: timeless, heart-warming entertainment; characters we can love, hate, laugh at and cry with.

And, honestly, who can stay away from kids and dogs?

Enjoy! Thank you for joining us.
