and sincerely contemplating my intentions, visions, and goals

for the new year—2013. There is something about the new

year that gives hope for new beginnings.

considering the shifting times we’re living through, the fact

that we can purposefully create positive change is a powerful

opportunity not to be squandered or ignored. no matter if you

desire to get fit, live healthier, or become stronger spiritually,

register FOr classesprograms at Kroc center hawaii are open to everyone. enrolling for program classes does not require Kroc center membership.

hOw tO enrOll

1. Fill out program enrollment form, located at the member Services desk or download online at www.Kroccenterhawaii.org.

2. Turn in program enrollment form along with payment to the member Services desk. if class is full, you will be added to a wait list. payment will be processed only if space becomes available. classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

class and prOgraM cancellatiOns Full payment is expected at the time of enrollment. no cash refunds are given unless the program is cancelled by Kroc center hawaii. if the program is cancelled by Kroc center hawaii, you will be given the choice of a full credit or a cash refund. if you request to cancel your class enrollment five or more days prior to the first class, you will receive a full credit on a Kroc center gift card minus a $5 processing fee or you may choose to transfer to another session if available. requests made less than five days prior to the start date are not eligible for a refund or credit, except in the case of personal emergencies. no credits or pro-rated credits will be issued for missed days of camp or class due to illness, partial attendance, behavior issues, or any other reason.

we’re introducing a special class for parents (or grandparents, aunties, uncles,

etc.) and their preschool children ages 3-5! Sessions will include projects in

painting, printmaking, drawing, collage, clay and mixed media. This is a great

way to spend quality time with family while learning, growing and having fun

making images is a basic human instinct, but drawing and painting

are skills we often leave behind in childhood. This class will reopen

the world of making pictures using various media. experiment with

charcoal, ink, watercolor and/or acrylic while learning to use line, tone,

perspective and color. each session will focus on one type of subject

matter, such as still life, landscape, or the clothed human figure. min. 9;

aquatic group exercise classes are fun and easy

on joints and muscles. unless otherwise noted, the

minimum age for aquatic group exercise classes

is 13-15 years with an adult, and 16+ without an

adult. group exercise classes are free for members.

individual class passes are available for non-members

and are available for purchase at the member

Services desk. For our current group exercise

grOup aquatic exercise classes

aqua cardiOan upbeat and fun class to improve your cardio, flexibility, and range of motion.

aqua Fita class for everyone, especially for those with joint ailments or injuries. get fit with this challenging water workout. after a gentle warm-up in the calm water, you will ease into the exercises using your own body weight and water resistance dumbbells. easy on the joints, this class is excellent for cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility and strength.

aqua JOgThis is a high intensity cross training water based fitness program that provides the benefits of little to no impact on joints, expands lung capacity as well as provides the benefits of weight and resistance training of a traditional gym.

aqua ZuMbaSplashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting and laughing, are often heard during an aqua Zumba class. aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.

aquatic center rulesThe rules in this section apply to all areas of the

aquatic center. lifeguards are responsible for

enforcing guidelines and any additional rules

which in their judgment will help to maintain

a safe environment. Failure to adhere to these

and any other rules and policies may result in

disciplinary action.

• Please shower before entering pool. Persons who leave the pool to use the restroom must shower before re-entering.

• Infants and toddlers are required to wear swim diapers. children who are not toilet trained are required to wear approved swim diapers and plastic pants.

• Any person having an infectious or communicable disease shall be excluded from using the pool. patrons with open blisters, cuts, etc. are warned that these are likely to become infected and are advised not to use the pool.

• The pool will immediately close in the event of an accidental pool contamination and will not re-open until proper water quality standard is restored.

• No spitting, spouting water, blowing the nose, etc. in the pool.

From beginning swimmers to triathletes, our professional aquatic

instructors can provide the skills and support you need in the

pool! whether you want to improve your stroke or build your

confidence, adult swim lessons are a great place to start.

getting startedThere are four levels in the learn to Swim program. each level

includes the teaching and assessment of swimming and water

safety skills. Students are moved through the progressive levels

as they accomplish the skills required at each level. please

note that a student may remain at the same level for multiple

sessions until they master the skills necessary to advance to

the next level. The lessons are taught in small group classes

by certified american red cross instructors and aides. Kroc

instructors make swimming lessons fun and help students

develop both swimming skills and self confidence. Swim lessons

are 25-minutes in length. Five minutes are given between

lessons to enter and exit the pool. For maximum efficiency,

please be on time and dressed in

JuniOr liFeguarding clubit’s not too early to start learning how to be a lifeguard. if you are over 10 years

old, you can become part of a lifeguard team as a Jr. guard. at Kroc center hawaii,

you’ll learn basic to advanced lifesaving skills, work with our Kroc aquatic Team,

and apply the skills you learn in real life situations. min. 12; max. 24

health & wellnessbasic Fitness OrientatiOnduring the Basic Fitness orientation, members will sit with

fitness staff to discuss their goals and any limitations they

may have. From there, members will be assessed for blood

pressure, body composition, balance, core strength and

cardiovascular fitness as well as familiarize them with basic

fitness equipment and proper use and safety. This service is

available by appointment only, made at the Fitness desk in

the health and wellness center.

abOut rObert FigarOarobert is experienced in the dynamic & functional training method which includes dynamic movements using the three modalities of gymnastics, weightlifting,

and metabolic conditioning, and has coached many athletes in the pose running Technique. robert has attended

picKup gaMe pOlicy pickup basketball and volleyball are designed for adults ages 18 and over to play a few friendly

games. players under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present in the gym at all times.

if there are multiple players or teams are waiting, a wait list will be created in the kiosk by the gym

attendant to sign up your team for the next game. This will allow an organized way for teams to

compete. The next team on the list will be on the side of the court keeping score.

basKetball: games are to 21 by 1’s and 2’s. Since there are no official referees on-site for

basketball, players will have to call their own fouls and ref their own games. no shooting free

throws, as fouls will be taken out at half court.

vOlleyball: minimum of 6 players. games are to 21. next team will ref the game by calling

serve, net violations, and provide two (2) line judges.

To allow everyone the opportunity to compete, the winning team will stay on the court for a

maximum of two (2) consecutive games. on their second win, the losing team will stay on and the

winning team can be placed back on the wait list in the kiosk.

come join other adults who wish to play sports in an atmosphere that is compliant with The

Salvation army policies and procedures of Kroc center hawaii. The Kroc center hawaii athletic

center has a Zero Tolerance policy — no cuSSing or FighTing. players who do so will be

dismissed immediately from the athletic center and be asked noT to return until the next day. Kroc

center hawaii memberships can and will be revoked if deemed necessary by the member Services

desk.

PRePaRe FoR School. upon enrollment, you will receive an

information packet to complete before beginning school. These

will include various release forms and Student’s health record,

form 14 (to be completed by your child’s pediatrician). The

department of human Services requires us to have information on

your child’s last physical exam (within one year of starting school),

immunization records and TB clearance.
