    What should I do when my well floods? Call Buchanan County EnvironmentalHealth Department for the following help:

    1. List of Certified Well Contractors in the area2. Instructions on how to properly shock chlorinate your well3. Free Water Sample to assure your water is drinkable

    Dumpsters For Flood Debris

    Dumpsters located in Independence for flood debris are as follows:1. West End of 2 nd St NE (north of the old feed store)2. City Parking Lot on 2 nd St SE (behind Chuong Garden)3. 5 th Ward Park at 3 rd St and 6 th Ave NW

    Flood Clean UpClean Up Kits, Bottled Water, Bleach

    Clean up kits, bottled water, and bleach can be picked up at the IndependenceFire Station if you are in need. Stop in or call 319-334-3404.

    Road Closures Buchanan Co. Roads Department 319-334-6031

    As of 2:30 pm on July 2, 2013 the following Buchanan County Secondary RoadsDepartment was reporting the following roads closed:

    1. Quonset Ave from 290 th St to 310 th St2. Washington Ave from 260 th St to 270 th St3. 300 th St. from Vincent Ave to Washington Ave (bridge is washed

    out)

    W35 south of Quasqueton between 290 th & 300 th St. will be open today, July 2, at4 pm

    Highway 150 South of Independence is now re-opened to I-380.

    If you note an unmarked area, please report to the Buchanan County RoadsDepartment at 319-334-6031 or Buchanan County Sheriffs Office at 319-334-2567 and ideally mark to warn others.

    Sandbagging Collection

    The City of Independence has distributed pallets throughout areas wheresandbagging took place. Place full sandbags neatly on the pallets and the citywill collect.
