Christmas in July Art ClassJuly 8, 15, 22, 29 • 12:30 p.m.Marjorie Duff , a decorative painter, will conduct these classes. We will complete two Christmas items: a painted sleigh with a snowman and a Santa on fabric for only $35, which includes all supplies, patterns, paints, and instruction. Marjorie is a member of National Decorative Painters, Winding Roads Painters, and Heart of Ohio Tole Painters of Columbus, OH. A list of items needed for the class is available at the front desk. Patient RightsJuly 10 • 5:30 p.m.Pam Roff, Director of Admissions and Hospital Liaison for Heartland of Marietta, will present the 2013 changes in the patient rights in a way that we can all better understand. This will be a valuable program for caregivers as well as anyone who might find themselves in need of long term medical care. A pizza dinner will be provided by Heartland of Marietta. Please register early for this free program as space is limited.

The Internet offers potential for safe, convenient new ways to shop for financial services and conduct banking business, any day, any time. However, safe banking online involves making good choices – decisions that will help you avoid costly surprises or even scams. Peoples Bank employees will offer this educational program to help you better understand your options.

Dinner with a DocAugust 5 • 5:30 p.m.Dr. William Cline, D.O. will speak on the topic of Colon Health. In September, 2006, he joined Drs. Carman, McElroy & Nill at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cline, along with his partners, feel strongly that screening colonoscopies save lives. Colon cancer symptoms don’t usually appear until late in the disease. Once this happens, the chance for a cure is significantly reduced. Dr. Cline will discuss those symptoms to look for as well as the risk factors and other important colon cancer facts.
County FairAugust 12 • 1-3 p.m.It’s O’Neill Center County Fair time! Bring your home-canned goods, handmade items, quilts or baked goods for judging and viewing. Entries will be accepted after 9 a.m. from all our talented seniors. “Tricky Chaz” will be here to entertain with magic, music, juggling and lots of fun. Our ice cream sundae station will be open and for $3 you may make your own sundae with all of your favorite toppings. The Country Pickers will provide the musical entertainment for the afternoon. It’s sure to be fun so don’t miss out on this special County Fair. Everyone welcome!
Technology FairAugust 7 • 1–4 p.m.According to the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project, nearly 70 percent of adults older than 65 use cell phones, more than half communicate via email and one-third of older Internet users are on Facebook. With a growing number of seniors participating in the technology wave, the O’Neill Center is pleased to offer this opportunity to learn more about your electronic devices and all the connectivity you can gain from them. Students from Parkersburg Catholic High School will be here to give you one-on-one help. Bring your iPhone, iPad, laptop, GPS, kindle, nook or whatever piece of technology that you own and want to learn more about. Students will also be available in O’Neill’s computer lab to answer computer related questions. Call to arrange your private, 30 minute appointment time to receive free assistance from a member of the “technology generation.”
