GROW 2 GROW (G2G) is the newest component of the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Project - a series of interventions geared towards helping school children become more physically active and make better nutritional choices. G2G, although conceptualized by the Medical Benefits Scheme, is a collaborative venture with the Ministries of Education, Agriculture and Health.

!e PAN activities includes inter schools skip rope, aerobics and Smart Dollar Healthy Recipe competitions. !e Smart Dollar Competition has been successful in challenging the student’s creativity to invent and display economical and healthy dishes, however it has not been able to measure any changes in nutritional practices and behaviour.

Research conducted by the Prevention Unit in the School Outreach Project - SOP - revealed alarming rates of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, yet there is a lack of concrete evidence of health learning being translated into healthy eating habits and behaviours.

!is ignited the idea for a project which would motivate children to eat more healthily and allow for the measurement of such changes in behaviour. Another factor which contributed to the development of G2G is the fact that the general population is encouraged to consume more fruits and vegetables in their colourful varieties; however, accessibility and a"ordability are usually the complaint of most consumers. !ese factors including limited knowledge on how to plant and grow these fruits and vegetables, has resulted in irregular consumption, further proliferating the incidences of non-communicable diseases. !ere is also a lack of acquired taste by children and subsequently inadequate intake of these healthful commodities when they are provided.

MBS Drink Water All Day Roles:Art DirectionConcept DevelopmentPhotoshop & Layout

The standard recommended glasses of water may not be suitable for everyone. Please consult your medical physician to ensure that you are consuming the recommended amounts of water suitable for any possible condition that you may have.

Water prevents dehydration and headaches and helps you concentrate.

Water helps nutrients to get to the cells more quickly and detoxi!es the body by removing waste more readily.

Water helps you to breath better as it moisturizes the air in the lungs and supply more oxygen to the body.

Water helps to lubricate your joints and other organs including your skin by keeping it supple, fresh and bright.

DRINK WATER ALL DAY

MBS’s Day

Why not select more clear, pure water as your

beverage of choice?

We encourage you to have water instead of juices.

HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH WATER? Divide your body weight in pounds (lbs.) by 16 and that will tell you how many 8 oz. glasses (cups) of clear fresh water is enough. This is additional to fruit and vegetable juices, teas, juice/drinks, soups and gravies.
