theMISSIONThe mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is to enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB CODE

I believe in God and the right to worship according to my own faith and religion.

I believe in America and the American way of life…in the Constitution and the Bill

of Rights.

I believe in fair play, honesty and sportsmanship.

I believe in my Boys & Girls Club, which stands for these things.

theMOVEMENTSince 1926, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay has provided safe environments for youth during out of school time as an alternative to being on the streets or home alone.

We present numerous opportunities to build new skills that raise a Club Member’s belief that he or she can succeed and receive the recognition deserved for his or her personal, social and academic accomplishments.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay serves more than 11,000 youth annually. Our doors are open Monday-Friday for young people between the ages of 5-18 years, and Clubs are accessible and affordable for everyone.

With 18 Clubs in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is dedicated to helping all young people reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens.

1963Interbay Club opens it doors.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay merges with Boys &

Girls Clubs of Pasco. Adds three new sites.

1997Merges with Girls, Inc. and adds thirteen new sites.

Begins providing programs to young women.

Opens Dover Club.

Rotary Club of Tampa founds Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay.

First Corporate Board is established.

After 17 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America changes tagline from“Positive Place for Kids” to “Great Futures Start Here.”

In partnership with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, the Freddie Solomon Boys & Girls Club at Nuccio Park is opened.

The Lewis Abraham Lacoochee Club celebrates its ground breaking for a new facility in Pasco County.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is serving more youth, in more sites, more often than ever before - we continue to make futures great and look forward to what this year, and many others, will bring!

21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) are designed to expand learning opportunities, and support partnerships between schools and community resources. Community learning centers, such as Boys & Girls Clubs, are designed to help students meet state and local academic achievement standards in core academic subjects as well as offer them a broad array of activities that can complement their regular academic programs.

21st CCLC’s provide a variety of services, such as tutorial services; art and music programs; technology programs; and leadership programs that are designed to reinforce the regular curriculum of participating students.

futureLEADERSEstablished in 1947, Youth of the Year is a recognition program for Club Members, promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.

Local Clubs recognize members ages 14-18 as Youth of the Month winners and select a Youth of the Year, who then participates in state and regional competitions. The National Youth of the Year receives up to $50,000 scholarship funds.

jeremiahMILBANKThe Jeremiah Milbank Society is the national recognition society for individuals who give an unrestricted gift of $10,000 or more to a Boys & Girls Club. The Society is named after Jeremiah Milbank, an man who exemplified a spirit of volunteerism, generosity, compassion and action for those in need. Asked by President Herbert Hoover to help develop a national network for Boys & Girls Clubs, Milbank served as treasurer of the national Boys & Girls Clubs organization for more than twenty-five years.
