Rebirthing Infants, by Leonard D. Orr_______________________________________________________It was a fantastic session, the parents were present and Heike. It only took less than ten minutes with me and he went fully into his birth memory. Very fast. It amazed Heike, as well as the parents. Actually, it amazed me also, because I haven't given a baby session in several years. Our ability to rebirth infants is a measure of how much of our own birth trauma we have healed. Our presence has to be safe enough and clear enough to allow the baby to go into their memory and to re-experience their birth trauma. Of course, if they had no birth trauma nothing would happen.However, I learned from an obstetrician that babies can learn birth trauma from their parents even after they have received a gentle, enlightened birth. Rebirthing the parents through ten sessions is always indicated before working with the babies. In this case the parents had many sessions before I agreed to give the baby this session. Then it became the longest infant session I ever did, over 2 intense hours, and about 3 hours all together. The last hour, the baby started to relax. He displayed struggle, pain, sadness, terror, and violence - the whole human condition took place in those 2 hours. It was two hours of agony for him. It looks like torture. But it all comes from inside. He was screaming and squirming for two hours trying to get rid of or run away from his discomfort. It would be torture to try to take him out of his experience. Unfortunately children and adults have to live with this primal anxiety their whole lives if they don’t do some kind of rebirthing. He was going toward mom and dad and pushing them away. He was moving and not moving. Nothing could remove his agony, except resolving it from inside with breathing. And he was too busy screaming to take time to breathe. He looked at me and mom and dad for help, but there is nothing we can do until he trades breathing for screaming. The best we can do is breathe as freely as possible and assist him in moving his memories with our breathing with and for him. All the social problems of the world are seen in seed form in this session. continued on page 2...

You can see how these feelings that infants feel which are not resolved are acted out by teenagers in all kinds of tragedies. They also create childhood diseases – mental and physical. These feelings trapped in the body-mind of children cause all kinds of behavioral problems. Psychologists say 100% of teenage suicides come from difficult births. It takes immense clarity and courage on the part of the rebirther to just be present with the infant during the session. The more you succeed at just being present, the less courage it takes, and more certainty appears in our support. Only experience can yield this. He was screaming and squirming the whole time. Trying to get away from the body memories, feelings, and sensations. Going to mom, pushing away from mom - nothing worked for him. He was stuck. Breathing is the only thing that removes these feelings and body discomforts that he is trying to run away from, but there is no where to go. Wherever he moves, the feelings are still with him - torturing him from inside. He wished his parents or me could take away the feelings, but of course we can't. We are helpless and can only stay present. Actually, I helped him to move the negative energy somewhat by breathing in a certain way. A clear rebirther can assist in moving the energy somewhat. It was difficult to get his parents to breathe properly. Parents are mesmerized and horrified, in spite of themselves. They are helpless to help and if they try, it makes it worse for the baby. Usually, they are so triggered that they go into spontaneous rebirth themselves and do get to be taken to another room for their session. Then they no longer have to watch their baby who is making them so uncomfortable. This also makes it easier for the baby. This may be the only way to get the parents out of their anxiety. His mom stayed quite present during the whole 3 hours, however, and kept working with her discomfort and wishing there was something she could do. But she respected the fact that she just had to try to relax and be present for her child. After an hour, his dad did go into a full rebirth session involuntarily. Heike guided his session and this made it a little easier for the baby. Mom received a rebirthing session from Heike the day after the baby’s session. Mom of course tried to end his misery, but just made it worse. Whatever she tried didn’t work. However, she respected my advice in the moment, so she didn't do too much damage. I have never rebirthed an infant, without one or both parents going irresistibly into a full session before the baby finished, usually in the first 10 or 20 minutes of the baby's session. I usually have other rebirthers around to care for the parents. So the father going into a session was normal, for me.The child only took one or two big breaths in the middle of the session, this big breathe usually brings up another layer of memory and usually sends him back into struggle and screaming. After two hours, he finally worked through the struggle, and started to relax, but still breathed inhibitedly because his birth memory kept filling his nose with congestion. His birth trauma continually was inhibiting his rebirth. This is one reason the session took so long. When enough trauma was resolved, and he could relax enough, he went to sleep, but his breathing was still inhibited until he let go into sleep completely. Then his breathing expanded and the angelic bliss appeared in his whole body. I think Babaji and other angelic beings often appear to them during this time. Usually, the exhaustion enables the breath to take over, and the session turns into beauty and bliss. But occasionally, the exhaustion puts them to sleep, similar to some adults. But in infants, the breath always takes off during sleep and completes the session. Also adults usually feel good after a nights sleep, when in rare cases their sessions are not complete. Hopefully, his breathing problem will clear in his second session. It may take ten to fifteen sessions to heal his birth trauma completely. It took this many to clear my own son’s birth trauma. He was so bright today, the day after his session, so happy, and blissful. He will be good for one or two weeks, then infants get cranky and the birth trauma comes up again by itself, and it is time for another session. Each session gets easier and more complete, until the birth trauma is completely healed.! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! continued on page 3...

There is a natural rhythm to rebirthing infants, but parents or rebirthers, have to be sensitive to it and in tune with the spirit and the baby. I hope the parents are up to it. They have agreed to give him a session in about a week and then I will be back in two weeks and can see if they were successful and give him another session, if appropriate. At least, he has dropped I would say, at least 40% of his birth trauma. This he won't have to live with any more. But infants require ten or twenty sessions to wipe out birth trauma completely. Whereas, adults usually require hundreds of sessions, maybe decades of daily bathing to heal their birth trauma. It gets locked in with everything else and becomes very complicated. It will be great when there are enough high quality rebirthers to heal birth trauma during the first year of aware parents. This is still a new very revolutionary concept. But I am very happy that the underwater birthing method and other gentle approaches to birth are becoming more popular inside as well as outside of the hospital establishment. The first ten sessions even in adults moves and heals more primal and lifetime trauma than we can realize, and gives people good tools to heal themselves. And when we have the free and full connected breathing to practice with, we tend to heal our birth trauma as fast as it comes to the surface. For each of us, it takes as long as it takes. The mind has to feel safe enough to release it. I have seen some adults weep almost continuously for six months. Birth trauma release takes many forms. It is common for people to experience the unlimited sadness of separation from the mother that is a common aspect of birth trauma.

In the taoist immortals sense, to relax and be natural is not so easy. We have to continue to relax until our infinite, immortal life is natural and ever present. Perfect existence, perfect consciousness, and perfect bliss is our birthright. Unraveling our birth trauma and death urge is basic to be able to relax and be natural. My son's 15 first sessions showed me, infants can be perhaps as clean as underwater babies, when they receive sessions early enough. My son just composed the music for a full length movie, and conducted the orchestra for the movie, as a high school graduate at 18. I am very proud of him. Both he and his sister are geniuses. His older sister had a perfect underwater birth, 9 years before him. He acted out his mother’s birth script and was the first baby that i had the privilege of taking through ten sessions. On the other side, psychologists say that 100% of teen suicides are connected to difficult births. And over 70% of incarcerations are connected to difficult births. The rest are from parental abuse. Please appreciate what we are giving to the world when we share Rebirthing breathwork. Rebirthing infants is a speciality. The prime quality is clearing your own birth trauma. It is the presence and safety of the rebirther that enables it to work. No one can give you this ability, but the babies. And they don't sign certificates.This infant session illustrates why adults also deserve the total attention of the rebirther in total privacy for high quality rebirthing sessions. Anything less than this can inhibit the session and the healing benefit of rebirthing. Adults may require more

privacy and attention than infants because their mind, feelings, and lives are more complicated. Everyone requires soft, firm, loving, patient, intuitive, and appropriate support. Group rebirthing is a ripoff for the greed and ego satisfaction, and fame of the rebirther. It may be very dramatic, even beneficial, but also ultimately superficial. It usually prevents full mastery and healing. And sometimes puts people into misery without the skills to get themselves out of it. High quality rebirthing is giving people the full gift of the breath. This means the ability to breathe energy as well as air. It means to have the tool to work with the body and mind to facilitate self healing. There is nothing like high quality individual client relationships. And there is nothing like the context of One Year Seminars and on going support groups. Our clients often become our eternal friends. I like seeing my client-friends decade after decade. These kinds of relationships are what satisfying human community is all about. Friends full of divine life and wisdom and love are one of life's greatest pleasures - if not the greatest. Babaji dematerialized Diane and took her on a trip through the universe for three days. Her adventures were amazing. This was in 1977. Gayle dematerialized for only a few minutes during a session, about 1979. Her letter describing her experience is in my book, Physical Immortality.I had another friend Mary, who used to dematerialize a few times every week, it was her main spiritual discipline. Analee Skarin and Swami Rama Linga are major studies on this subject. Living without food or water is becoming very popular worldwide. One friend has had no food or water for over 40 years. Another gave up food and water over 5 years ago and had no bathroom – no peeing or defecating for 4 years.Two young couples who lived without food or water for a few years, went through pregnancy and birth without eating. How is the baby? Perfect and I heard that the baby doesn’t eat or drink either. Wow! What do these facts do to your established reality and “scientific” beliefs?The 21 day process has been producing more breatharians for about 20 years. Some people did the process, felt so good, they didn’t like the idea of returning to the world of food, overextended themselves and died. Many others have not had food or water for over a decade and are in good health. They took it easy and mastered the ability stage by stage. I met a young woman in Sweden who stopped eating when she was 8 years old, she was in her twenties when I met her and usually had a cup of tea once per month. It is good to be patient with ourselves. If we are going to be free or immortal, there is no hurry. Babaji says, “Slowliness is holiness.” When we become immortal we have to have something to do for a very long time. What are you going to do after you become immortal? There is no hurry to become immortal, as long as we don’t have bad habits that are killing us. Everyone is already immortal until we kill ourselves. The most popular way to commit suicide is with food. And ignoring the arts of spiritual purification with mind, the elements of earth, air, water, and fire, and love. Breathing and fire seem to be the two most neglected elements.Becoming a conscious artistic expression of the eternal spirit may be a new value system. Being a conscious co-creator with God of human civilization may be a new level of responsibility for you. Making our own goals may be a new idea, after we live out the goals given to us by our parents and culture. Let’s look at Analee Skarin. Studying and thinking about her biography is very interesting. Notice these facts:-Annalee dematerialized many times, and before witnesses. Once she returned for her false teeth, and then left again. Much later on after another venture into the invisible world, she returned in the living room of friends. Her friends noticed before her appearance that her false teeth were in her room, after she left into the dematerialized state. When she reappeared, in their living room, she had perfect new teeth. This raises the question of why her healings were not complete. Why did her trips to heaven heal some of her conditions and not others?- She and her husband had injuries from an auto accident after she had several dematerializations. How is this possible?- She and her husband gave up sex to get rid of bondage to the flesh. And they had beautiful tantric union with kissing and snuggling without intercourse, which evidently from their Mormon background they had nasty beliefs about.- Her rejection of money, caused her husband to take menial jobs to earn money for her and himself. As one of her biographers points out, she could have lived from the royalties of her books. She refused to accept income from this source, because her information came from God. But everything comes from God.- The door to heaven swung both ways for her. She had no fear of death. She became intimately acquainted with the other world.- Both Analee and her husband Reason had some health problems, evidently until the end. What did they need to learn to heal these?- He also learned how to dematerialize. They loved each other, lived together. They both dematerialized, and probably met in heaven at times, and they chose to die around the same time. Why couldn't she dematerialize and stay there like Swami Rama Linga? Or Enoch, or other immortals who did? Evidently, her physical body brought her back, perhaps because she didn't do enough spiritual purification, and perhaps because of her Mormon baggage. Maybe spiritual purification or total healing is necessary to fully take our body with us, if we dematerialize. Otherwise, something about the body brings us back. Like the silver cord in astral projection.Maybe they kept returning because of ordinary attachments like home, friends, students, relatives, the pleasures of the California lifestyle, etc. Analee and Reason Skarin died in the late 80’s and their bodies were buried in Red Bluff, California. Evidently, we have to fully integrate these special skills. In the first One Year Seminar, I used to teach that we have to be totally in the body in order to dematerialize it. Until we fully harmonize the physical with the spiritual, we evidently live a dual life. We bounce back and forth from one reality to another. This problem of integration exists in all aspects of our life.Integrating our multiple personalities seems to be a basic spiritual goal – and maintaining this integration. We can get distracted at any time, no matter how high our goals are. We have to remember them and stick with them until we manifest them.

Swami Rama Linga, who dematerialized his body in 1864, returned also through reincarnation as Dr Pillai. ( http://www.pillaicenter.com ) His karma brought him back also. Only many decades later. I have a friend named Gita, who dematerialized as Mirabai, and reincarnated and read my Physical Immortality book, and said this is the answer. I tried ascension and it didn't solve the problem.Is there a difference between dematerializing and rematerializing in this life or through reincarnation? Is dematerializing the body better than just leaving it? Taking our body with us, seems to be a greater level of integration. But how do we maintain our ability to rematerialize as Babaji does? Or do we get so blissed out that we no longer care about life on earth and our friends, who seem to be stuck here?These people and their stories raise lots of issues to think about. There is a lot more to think about. Integrating spirit, mind, and body seems to be important. And integrating all the multiple persons, or sub-persons in our mind.Incorporation of the body into the conscious life of the eternal spirit is a good idea. Analee and Reason went and returned, perhaps not knowing how they did it. But kept returning, until they went through physical death. It seems like they had to die to get rid of their bodies, which evidently kept bringing them back from the dematerialized state.Purification of the body and the mind seems to be basic. Religious baggage or any kind of attachments, brings us back, no matter how we leave the planet or the body. Now that Analee and reason have died, they perhaps can't reappear, except through reincarnation. It seems that they didn't heal their bodies and minds enough to stay in the dematerialized state.They had no fear of death, because they visited heaven a lot. So leaving their bodies was not a tragedy for them. It was definitely a conscious choice. They had lots of students, but probably not many that held them here. Maybe they were disappointed with their rate of progress as was Swmai Rama Linga. So Annalee and Reason left their bodies, and perhaps thought that leaving their books was enough for posterity.There is no study of the Chinese immortals on this issue, but some of the more masterful ones seem to return and initiate new immortals, in many various ways. Tales of Taoists Immortals, the book by Eva Wong, is perhaps the best study that we have. I haven't seen any bios about Chinese immortals leaving the land of immortals through reincarnation. But one of the tales, says, that one was sent back to earth for many years to pay for his mistakes, not through birth, but like Analee was pulled back to earth.Analee's books refer to her subjective experiences and interpretation of these facts. And the techniques, of love, gratitude, and thanks, etc that she used to move her forward, but integrating the three worlds of spirit, mind, and matter fully and in balance doesn't seem to be there. Earth, air, water, and fire practices are missing. These simple practices seem to make the whole game of life and mastery so much easier and richer.When I met Analee in the early 80's, she was rather spacey and also dogmatic. She came to Consciousness Village - Campbell Hot Springs and participated in a day or more of my training.

I didn't know it was her until later, so I wasn't watching what happened in her sessions with a proper understanding. I mainly remember she was critical of some of my goals, but her criticisms were borderline, in terms of value. I didn't really see the guidance quality I would have expected, had I known it was her that I was talking to. She resisted identifying herself, which was consistent with her "Mormon" humility.I also spent a day with Christine Mercy, in the late 60's, who was also having translation or dematerializing experiences. She was much more attuned to high spiritual states as I remember and I think she was able to ascend and stay there, after a few years of practice. She was perhaps the most advanced student of Analee and perhaps advanced faster than Analee.Babaji of course is the union of all opposites, and fully integrates the spiritual world, the world of the mind, and the physical universe. There are more studies of Indian immortals, including a lot in the Shiva Purana, especially volume three.Healing the emotional mind, or the ten biggies, seems to be a very advanced yoga or approach to every kind of higher states. This is part of the reason Babaji said, "Old yoga finished, Rebirthing is new yoga". It involves paying our karmic debts, real liberation or healing of the emotional mind, which means freedom, and becoming a conscious master of the three worlds, and in the three worlds. This is the full game of life. This is a good deal further than getting new teeth or dematerializing the body temporarily, or death and reincarnation. Mastering the three worlds is the ultimate, eternal meditation. These games and miracles, however are all a lot of fun and are a part of the path to get there, and assist us to move into the harmony of the universe as illusion and reality at the same time. We have to dance with the stability and instability of things as things become more flexible and responsive to us. And of course, we have to control our thoughts as they become more powerful.Evolving the mind and the body into the full reality and harmony with spirit is also a great adventure. It seems to be a fundamental goal to keep us busy and give us something to do for all eternity. We can have many goals to learn many abilities. What is really most important? What is basic is: -Learning to be! -Mastering our thoughts! -Enjoying the physical universe!This is what God is doing. We can be like God. We can enjoy living with Him/Her forever. We can relax and be divine. This includes our humanity and all of the creation, as well as our eternal uncreated nature.d Truth, Simplicity and Love, Leonard D. Orr

Overcoming Procrastination, by Sara Dawn

Dear procrastination. It may seem harmless, it may be an annoyance that many tolerate, it may be a common, accepted practice in society, but it is a habit that limits the abundance, joy, fulfillment, and real sense of vitality in the lives of so many people. The habit of procrastination keeps us from living the life we say we want. How might our world be different, if no one procrastinated? How might your life be different, if you were no longer willing to procrastinate? When people give up procrastination it frees up tons of life energy. Let's take a look at how to change this sneaky habit...First, let's talk about focus. Not being focused on projects is a huge contributor to procrastination. It looks like this: You have a great house with a large basement, and can't wait to start remodeling it for a family recreation room, but half way through the remodel you get interrupted with a leak in the roof of your house. Naturally that is a top priority, so your attention and energy goes into fixing the leak. However once the leaky roof repair is finished you feel a newly rejuvenated passion to take care of the outside of your home and start working on the rain gutters. Well, while you were there throwing out the leaves and accumulated debris in the gutters, why not clean up the flowerbeds too? I mean, winter is coming and this must be done before the weather turns cold. Oops, it's time to pick up your child from school. The next 3 days you're busy working with clients and family needs. Through unexpected demands on your time and fluctuating inspirations and passions on various areas of your life it is suddenly four months later… And there the basement sits, halfway remodeled in a state of useless disaster. It becomes a heavy drag on your lifestyle, mindset and energy. The often neglected and avoided basement has been reduced to the status of 'the enemy' and the exciting, new remodel job on your basement has now become your very own home-nightmare. Procrastination and avoidance of the project set in, eventually draining your energy and focus in all areas of your life.The bottom line is this. For some of us, it can be hard, really hard to stay focused on a project through to its completion. With all of the various roles we play in life and ambitions we may have, it takes some good, grounded, down to earth skills to stay focused on projects and goals. A lifetime of half completed projects, newly inspired ideas, and basic family needs can leave us in a perpetual state of overwhelm. Many people become caught in this cycle of overwhelm - procrastination, more overwhelm -procrastination and so on. Fortunately, there is a way out of this self-perpetuating cycle. And for me, the first step is always to spend some time with earth, air, water and fire to clean out my energy body on a simple and basic level. With a clean energy body, it is much easier to get things done! The next step is to do some self inquiry. With regards to overwhelm/procrastination cycle, here are some questions to ask yourself: Are you agreeing or committing to do more than you are capable of? -If yes, why? Many people feel guilt, obligation, are afraid to say no, etc. Which is it for you?How confident are you with your skills in time management? Do you underestimate how much time it will take to complete a project?Do you push yourself too hard and have perfectionist, super-human ideas about what you should or can accomplish? continued on page 10…

How do you feel when things complete and come to an 'end'? -What has been your life experience with events and projects coming to an end or completion? Is it positive, fun, fulfilling, uplifting? Or have you mainly experienced grief, loss, and upsets when events complete in your life?How will you feel when your project or event is complete?How do you feel now, procrastinating on your project?What other ideas and feelings do you have about procrastination and completion?Are you afraid of what others might think or feel about your project once it's done? How does procrastinating serve you? What is it giving you that you don't want to give up?Now that we've done the self inquiry, it's time to take positive action. This is where time management comes in. The very first step is to have a daily / monthly calendar to keep track of your projects and plan for your time. You may like to work with a calendar on your computer, online, or use a good old fashioned schedule book you can carry with you. In this calendar, write down any time commitments and activities you already have in your daily routine. Also include special events or random time-commitments you may have in the upcoming months or year.Now, consider your project in its finished form. On a blank sheet of paper, write your completed project name at the top of the page. Now, make a complete list of tasks that need to be done to get it to completion. Next, write down how much time each task will take individually. Make sure to be reasonable with the amount of time given to complete the tasks. I find it is great to consult with someone else for a good perspective on how much time to a lot for each step of the project. Often times we can have either demands and expectations that are too hard on ourselves, or slack off a little and not challenge ourselves enough to make it fun and exciting. Finding the right balance is key. Once you have estimated the amount of time needed for each task you can look at your calendar and schedule it in. Write down every step or task needed to complete the project in your calendar. It is important to declare the exact dates and times that you will be working on your project. As you go through your days and weeks you can see if you are keeping your time agreements and accomplishing your projects and goals, or still sabotaging them with procrastination. If you find that you still tend to procrastinate, continue to do self inquiry. Procrastination 'kills' our projects and creations. Investigating our motives, feelings, beliefs and thoughts around procrastination is part of healing the death urge. What a great opportunity for healing this is!It's good to set goals and projects that are a stretch, that feel just a bit risky to accomplish. This is how we grow and come to know our true potential. But we also want to set goals that are within our current capacity and are realistic, to build up our self trust and confidence. Years of procrastination can be a form of self sabotage that proves to our subconscious over and over that we are not capable, adequate, trustworthy, or good enough. Uncovering and converting our personal Lie (the most negative, deeply rooted, unconscious belief about yourself and life) is a fantastic step towards ending procrastination. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of Personal Lie and how to heal it, get in touch with a well trained Rebirther who can guide you through it. It is one of the most powerful processes of purification you can do with your mind!Procrastination, in its purest form, is a way of dominating, rebelling, instigating self sabotage or the sabotaging of others. When it comes right down to it, why wouldn't you want to finish or complete _x, y or z_? There is always a pay-off in procrastinating. Procrastination feeds the ego in one way or another. Do you use procrastination to give yourself a sense of power or control? Is it a covert way to get revenge on someone -who may represent your parents, siblings, or

__? Do you use it to get attention from others involved in a project? Or, did you agree to do something that you never really wanted to do in the first place and now feel resentment about completing it? Are you secretly procrastinating on your own projects and dreams because you are afraid of failing or making mistakes? Being willing to look at these sometimes painful 'shadow' aspects of ourselves is vital to overcoming the draw towards procrastination.Personally, I don't like to procrastinate on my projects, because when I do it puts me in overwhelm and drains my energy. Procrastination is more painful for me than simply getting the job done. I actually feel quite heavy and blocked off from my inspiration when I procrastinate. Completing my projects and bringing my inspiration through to actualization gives me tremendous confidence and self trust. It's an active way of healing limiting self beliefs. I now know I can manage things and experience my creative power and Divine self. Each time I find myself procrastinating it is a new opportunity to discover what limiting identity I still carry, or if I am placing too many 'perfectionist' demands upon myself.If you are really stuck in procrastination and don't trust that you are able to move beyond it alone, you may want to get an 'accountability buddy'. This should be someone who's opinion and friendship really matters to you. Someone who you don't want to let down or disappoint. The basic idea is to create an agreement with them that you can talk daily, weekly, or monthly about your project, and you 'confess' to them the truth; have you completed the tasks on your calendar or not? You can really raise the stakes by putting your money into it. Write a check made out to your accountability buddy and give it to them to keep. If, at the end of your calendar the scheduled tasks aren't done and you are still procrastinating, they get to cash your check and use the money as they choose!Often times when we procrastinate, we believe on some level that the project or desired outcome is bigger than we are; that it is insurmountable. Facing the discomfort of this belief and overcoming procrastination can bring us into complete ecstasy. Of one the keys for health and happiness sounds better lies in having a healthy and balanced mind. To achieve that we have to overcome and transform the negative thoughts of judgement, resentment etc. that create disharmony, confusion and sabotage our relationships and our life. Through our thoughts and emotions we create our reality, therefore, it is important to take the reins of our mind and cultivate high quality thoughts.On the other hand, a key for personal and spiritual self realisation is to go beyond the mind, detach ourselves from the thoughts, live fully in the present moment, be in the space between our thoughts, open to Life, which is beyond our limited personality and ego.This can seem contradictory and lead us to profound questions, like: how can we increase the quality of our thoughts and at the same time go beyond our thoughts? How can we go beyond the mind via the mind? Can creative thinking help to dissolve the ego?Identifying ourselves with the mind and with structures of thoughts leads us to develop the ego and create suffering in our life. The identification with the mind results in the limitation of our thinking processes and makes us identify with a specific form of thinking and being, therefore, we stop evolving and get stuck.In order to survive the ego needs to identify itself with patterns of thinking and seeing. It doesn’t like changes very much. When we stop identifying ourselves with the mind we discover that we are the observer behind the scenes and that, therefore, we can observe our thinking processes. We can then stop being a victim of our mind and our ego.But this doesn’t mean that the mind is the source of the problems. The source of the problems is the identification with her and her misuse. As our thoughts create our reality, when the mind is well used she is a divine gift. Our mind should be like a tool that is being used at the service of Divinity, in other words it is about using the creative power of our mind at the service of Life, for the good of all living beings (including ourselves).Using the power of thoughts from the identification with our mind and therefore with superficial desires doesn’t lead to inner realisation or happiness. For example, if we identify ourselves with frequent social ideas of success, like having many material possessions achieving it will reinforce our ego. This “success” in the long run won’t give us any permanent well-being or satisfaction. No matter how much money we have, the satisfaction won’t last long as the ego needs to create more and more desires in order to survive. Thus we will never be able to fulfil the emptiness we feel when we are not connected to our real nature.So if we are not identified with our mind and the desires of our ego or false identity, we will be able to be clear about what can truly make us happy and what can truly contribute to others happiness. The power of thoughts has often been misinterpreted and misused. Luckily using creative thinking for the accomplishment of superficial desires often does not work. The reason being our deep nature does not support those desires. This inner contradiction, even though it is often unconscious, makes sure that the affirmations of the power of the mind does not work. Somehow this is the way that God protects us from creating circumstances and ways of life that would create unhappiness.

For that reason, many people come to the conclusion that creative thinking does not work, because in fact they are trying to use it from their ego. In reality thought is creative at the service of the Divine. It means that it will create the circumstances that we need in order to evolve, whether our ego or superficial personality agrees with it or not.Sometimes the superficial creative thinking does work and the person manages to materialise the object(s) of her egoistic desire, but soon realises that it did not bring her the happiness she was pursuing. Those experiences contain lessons, as they offer the possibility of realising that his/her happiness does not depend on the fulfilment of his/her superficial desires. Sometimes the person will

lose what she obtained after some time. This offers the possibility, if she opens up, to realise that his/her inner self cannot be affected by “loss” and that his/her intrinsic nature is peace and bliss.Our inner being can not be defined with the mind as it is much bigger than the mind. With our mind we can picture an image of our inner being, which will unavoidably be limited. With our mind we cannot embrace or understand our divine nature. But when we stop thinking, when we consciously enter the space between our thoughts, we are in contact with it and we simply are. The contact with our true essence automatically brings us happiness.

However, in order to accomplish our daily tasks and create our life we need to think. The mind allows us to get organised, find the best ways to help other people etc. Therefore we can say that a happy life requires a balance between intelligent thinking and living in the space between our thoughts. Our mind should be like a computer that we switch on when we need it and in which we deposit only ideas that contribute in creating happiness and efficiency in the tasks we want to perform as well as in the kind of life and relationships we want to have; and that we switch off when we do not need it anymore. Meaning that the mind should actually be at our service, instead of us being its slave.When we are in contact with our inner being, our true divine nature, then we get energised and it helps us to have high quality thoughts. Somehow by being more in contact with Life, when we go back into the thinking mode, we have the tendency to develop new and higher quality thoughts, that is to say thoughts which are in favour with Life. However, we also have to eliminate the negative or erroneous structures in our mind, because even if we achieve detachment, at some point our unconscious mind will keep on repeating the thoughts that it contains and will create the same old limited results.Buddha said that the supreme technique of enlightenment is to judge all our thoughts. What he meant is that we have to become aware of all our thoughts and change the ones that are not in harmony with the Divine. The mind can create maya or illusion, that is suffering, or it can be a tool to reconnect us with Being and create from that connection. Our mind can be the salve of our ego or can be in service with our divine nature; it depends on us. Our thoughts can be in harmony with our divine nature; they can be thoughts which do not lose the awareness of union with Everything, thoughts that do not separate and see Life and Divinity in all persons and all things. Now, what can we do in order to dissolve old limited thoughts, superficial and egoist thinking habits? And how can we become the master of our mind and be able to enter the bliss of the space between our thoughts whenever we want? continued on page 17…

Unless we undo its habit, our mind has the tendency to stay active all the time, which disables us to enter the meditative state or the here and now state. Besides it has the tendency to repeat the same negative or obsessive structures of thoughts over and over. Therefore, in order to take the reins of our mind we need to do some inner transformational work.Even though it can seem a contradiction, using the mind can help! It means that we can choose having thoughts that help us stop the unceasing flow of thoughts, for example: “I choose to observe my thoughts and detach from them”. That decision, as we stop giving energy to the mind by identifying ourselves with it, will make the mind stop at some point and we will automatically enter the inner silence. We can practice meditation and/or get involved with some kind of physical activity which helps us to stop the mind; but we first have to have the thought and repeat it until it becomes a new habit. We can also learn to fill up our mind with thoughts that are in harmony with the Divine. Being aware that the Divine is in everything gives us true happiness and allows us to create in accordance with God.The use of affirmations can help us greatly. An affirmation is a thought that we choose and repeat until it becomes part of our usual way of thinking. Therefore an affirmation has to be chosen carefully. The affirmation has to support our evolution and enlightenment instead of supporting the ego and the limited images we have built about ourselves and about life. Physical Immortality by an Actual Immortal Master, Book Review by Leonard D. Orr

Babaji in his Goraknath body trained more immortal yogis than anyone in the last 100,000 years. I saw yogis, because during the age of darkness and deathist mentality that we are now in, it seems to be a full time career to master the principles, arts, and sciences of immortality.During the time of Ram and Sita, 130,000 years ago, everyone knew that death was optional and it was common to live for thousands of years. The end of this period is the garden of Eden story, which tells how death became popular in the west. The Mahabharata tells how death became popular as a result of the war of the immortals in the east.Goraknath has been teaching for the last 2 or 3 thousand years. His definition of physical immortality is to incorporate the physical body into the conscious life of the eternal spirit. Very profound definition and very practical. Here are his lessons to achieve this, as written in his book, Siddha Siddhanta Paddhati. A modern study of this work is the philosophy of Goraknath, by Akshaya Kumar Banerjea.Lesson one: The origin of the cosmic body and the individual body. The absolute reality evolves through gradual stages the diversified cosmic system with the orders of various material and living organisms, and is the indwelling soul of each of them. This is a basic concept of the spiritual community of immortals which Goraknath established. It is rather self evident.Lesson two: Contemplation of the constitution of the body. The inner constitution of the body has 9 chakras, sixteen adharas, three lakshyas, and five vyomas or akasa. He describes them and their locations in the body and gives methods of contemplation upon them. These practical contemplations enable the student to develop the self disciplines that produce mastery of the body. With these tools, the energy body, and mind, of the student, with assistance of the guru when necessary, achieves a natural mastery of the body systems.The third lesson is: True insight into the body. Goraknath points out clearly the identity of the individual body with the cosmic body. He makes us aware that whatever exists in the vast world outside also exists within this individual body. The realization of this apparently finite and mortal body with the beginning-less and endless universe is a unique and magnificent ideal that has to be built into our self image. We have to realize, not only the unity of the individual soul with the cosmic soul, but the unity of the individual body with the cosmic body. When we do this, we are yogis who attain perfect freedom and bliss in the universe by becoming one with the universe. Unity and freedom are a paradox, for us to integrate.The fourth lesson: Container and sustainer of the body. Our body is contained in and sustained and held together by one Shakti, or supreme spiritual power, who is in her essential character identical with Shiva – the non-dual supreme spirit. All bodies are the self-manifestation of one self-evolving divine Shakti. Our bodies are pervaded by this Shakti and are regulated in all our relations and changes by her. Our perfection is realized in the union of Shakti and Shiva – energy and mind.The fifth lesson: Perfect unification. As we surrender or unify our individual body with the cosmic body, the difference between matter and spirit disappears, the difference between the finite and infinite vanishes, between individual and God, and the difference between self and the world ceases to exist. We then see the world within our self or as our reflection, and our self in all the existences of the whole world immersed in Shiva. In this experience, our own body is spiritualized and the whole universe is spiritualized. Then in our illumined consciousness, the absolute spirit alone exists in all these names and forms, and nothing but him really exists. The sixth lesson: Our character and conduct. When we are free from all ignorance, bondage, narrowness, desires, attachments, cares, fears, and sorrows, all sense of difference and plurality, we are living in the direct experience of the absolute truth, or Samadhi. Then our intellect, mental, and vital planes are always illumined by that divine light. We can remain undisturbed and unclouded in our outer activities and our relations with various sorts of people under various sorts of circumstances. Our personal connection to infinite being, infinite intelligence, and infinite manifestation enables us to be the perfect master of ourselves, of our circumstances in our outer life as they flow from our inner life. We constantly destroy the darkness of ordinary people and awaken spiritual wisdom and spiritual power which normally lies asleep in people, to the extent that they can receive it. In this consciousness we harmonize the normal sensuous plane and the perfectly illumined state. We give as appropriate and honor the reality of the other thinking centers.In another chapter, Goraknath adds more to this picture. That nameless supreme spirit is eternally self existent, without any birth or death. This is basic metaphysics. God’s unique power, which is eternally inherent in his nature and one with Him and is the character of pure will, without resistance. Thus, according to Goraknath, the ultimate reality, though revealing itself in bliss as pure changeless infinite, eternal consciousness, is not static, but a dynamic spirit with will. The eternal Shiva is eternally endowed with Shakti. Shiva with Shakti non-different from him is the reality.As individual souls, in the image and likeness of our Father, we also have the same potential power and bliss. The Father, and us can create effortlessly when we have no resistance to our will. Absolute power is absolute rest, if there is no resistance. All resistance is self created. It can be eliminated through integration, so that we harmonize our creative and destructive thoughts. We can destroy what we have created as effortlessly as we created it, as long as our will has not self created resistance. Ultimate ethics is a natural result of integration. They that live by the sword, die by the sword. We see a significant number of mass murders turning their gun on themselves. This is an inverted form of integration to achieve harmony in the universe which is an extension of ourselves.Babaji Goraknath has total respect for our freedom and ability to create our own beautiful reality or misery, by our choices. Will without resistance is pure manifested form, will with resistance manifests resistance. Goraknath teaches spiritual practices for integration as well as just meditation, to raise the body into oneness with its source. Mantra, of course is one basic one. You will have to get the books to learn the others.His students have the best record of actual immortal mastery. The books have only been around for one to two thousand years.
