    1. The deadlineto submit award applications is Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 3 p.m.2. Applications are to be turned in to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (Student Commons Room 014).3. Late applications will notbe accepted under any circumstances.4. The directions for each individual award are very specific; please follow the rules and directions. Failure to

    abide by the set guidelines may result in the application not being considered.

    Please nominate a junior or senior member of your chapter or a member from another organization. Please

    Outstanding Chapter President

    This award will be given to an immediate past president who performed exceptionally during his/her term inoffice. (Term completed in December 2013 or April 2014). One award per council.

    A resume may be submitted for additional documentation, but be sure to include the following information for

    the nominee from your organization:

    In at least 500 words please explain the achievements, improvements, and goals that were accomplished duringyour term of office. The information that you present should clearly illustrate outstanding examples of the

    decision making and leadership that you provided your chapter with during your term of office. Thisinformation can include but is not limited to the following:

    1. A time when you had to make a difficult or unpopular decision and how you carried that decisionforward in your organization.

    2. Description of the relationships that developed within your chapter or executive officers as result ofyour leadership.

    3. Description of the relationships developed with alumni/ae and advisors.4. A significant improvement or change that occurred within the chapter during your term of office.5. Attendance and involvement in leadership programs, campus activities, and/or sponsored events by your

    inter/national organization.

    Please attach a letter of recommendation for your nominee outlining why he/she meets the above criteria

    and should be recognized. This letter of recommendation must be typed and submitted with the

    completed application.

    Emerging Leader

    The Emerging Leader Award recognizes outstanding contribution by a member who recently joined the

    fraternity and sorority community. Please nominate a member or new member who has joined your chapter inthe last 12 months who has contributed significantly to the chapter. Please answer the questions below. Aresume may be submitted for additional documentation.

    Lynne Chambers Alumni Involvement Award

    The advisors to our fraternities and sororities are incredible resources. Even after graduating, they still feel the

    desire to contribute to the community that they themselves were once a part of. These individuals sacrifice theirtime in order to share personal experiences and knowledge about the importance of being a values-based

    organization. The Advisor of the Year not only encompasses all of these traits, but exceeds all expectations ofthe position and deserves special recognition for his or her continual commitment to the VCU Fraternity andSorority community.

    This award is named for Lynne Chambers, a long-time advisor to Alpha Sigma Alpha at VCU, who continues to

    serve her organization locally and internationally. Please nominate one alumni/ae of your organization who hasoffered outstanding service to the chapter over the past year. The goal of this award is to encourage alumni/ae toremain involved in their organization throughout their life.

    Award Criteria:

    1. Dedicated to promoting the VCU community values and chapter values.2. Dedicated to developing leaders within the chapter.

    3. Dedicated to promoting a values-based organization.4. Promotes and role models ethical leadership and healthy chapter membership.

    William R. Auchmoody Chapter Advisor of the Year

    The advisors to our fraternities and sororities are incredible resources. Even after graduating, they still feel thedesire to contribute to the community. These individuals sacrifice their time in order to share personalexperiences and knowledge about the importance of being a values-based organization. The Advisor of the Yearnot only encompasses all of these traits, but exceeds all expectations of the position and deserves special

    recognition for his or her continual commitment to the VCU Fraternity and Sorority community.

    This award is named for Bill Auchmoody, a long-time advisor to Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, whocontinues to work with the men of VCU. Nominate your own advisor if you feel he or she has contributedgreatly to the success of your chapter this past year. Please be very specific in relating why your advisor should

    win this award.
