20132013 BRANSON, M

Mary Manderfeld will be accompanying us on the trip as the district administrator (Director of Enrollment & School Improvement, former interim Principal and Assistant Principal of EHS, band mom)

The Simons (our travel agents) will be with us and will personally guide us through every aspect of our tour.

This is an amazing group of young people to be traveling with- they will be outstanding ambassadors for our school, city, state and country.

EHMB Staff and Educators Attending-Andy and Lynn Richter -Paul Kile-Amanda and Nate Kremer-Martha and Kip

Lundquist-Cindy Awes -Mary

Manderfeld, Admin.

The safety of your son or daughter is always our highest priority.

We wish to offer your student amazing educational experiences and performance opportunities.

We hope they create memories and make friendships that will be everlasting.

We take attendance (bus roll call) every time we unload and reload the busses to assure no one is left behind.

Chaperones visit the students each night to check in with them and are assigned a group of students that they track and oversee.

Students are required to travel in small groups of three or more

We will spend the majority of our time together in a large group or in smaller organized groups.

Touring with the EHMB is an amazing optional enrichment opportunity which has the potential to be extraordinarily rewarding and enriching and one we would like to see continue

Having everyone understand the same ground-rules from the start, saves avoidable reminders and misunderstanding and is vital to the success of our tour.

(Menomonie story)

When students signed up for this tour, both students and parents signed a contract that in part read –

1. I agree to maintain the highest standards of public and private conduct…

2. I agree to follow the supervision of my chaperones…and participate in all group activities.

3. I will not be allowed to have in my possession or to use alcoholic beverages, tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, or any illegal drugs including marijuana or hallucinogens.

As per Edina School Board and Minnesota State High School League Policy, violation will result in immediate termination of tour and student being sent home – at their own expense. This includes not just consumption, but POSSESSION of any contraband, drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol.

On tour, individuals/families will be responsible for legal consequences of any laws violated. (drugs, alcohol, shoplifting, trespassing, etc.)

This tour is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the amazing young people in our Edina Band Program.

Please have a conversation with your young adult regarding your expectations of behavior while on tour.

Have behavior above reproach and conduct worthy of the Edina band program

Make it a whine free tour Leave It Neater Than We Found It Avoid accidents Get in the habit of double and triple

checking you have everything before we leave anywhere

Travel in groups of three or more and be your brothers keeper

It is impossible to cover any and all behavioral expectation with a set of rules. The best suggestion is to use good common sense

*GET REST- this isn’t a slumber party

*EAT AT EVERY MEAL- you won’t have opportunities to snack at your leisure or when you are feeling run down

*DRINK WATER & STAY HYDRATED

*BE PREPARED FOR THE WEATHER

Carefully pack your marching instrument and be sure your instrument is properly tagged.

You will be provided with three personalized custom luggage tags - one for your instrument, one for your suitcase and one for an EMHB Backpack

Upon departure, you will be provided a tour booklet containing the itinerary and other very important tour details. Do not lose your tour booklet as we only have one per tour participant.

Each student is allowed one (1) piece of luggage for their personal belongings in addition to their instrument. This suitcase may be up to 26" in size.

Bus carry-on items must be kept at a minimum as all seats in the coaches will be occupied. All carry-on items must fit within your tour provided backpack. Be sensible. We will be in close quarters on the busses for some time and each person has a very limited amount of space.

PSAT TESTING?

PSAT Testers - Bring instrument and luggage with tags on them to the EHS band room at 8:00am before your 8:25 am test.

Non-PSAT Testers will be helping load all luggage and equipment on the morning we leave.

We will be giving periodic updates via our Twitter account. Follow us @Edinabands

If a family emergency arises, you may call Mr. Kile’s cell phone (952-250-3372) or Mr. Richter’s cell phone (612-578-4469). They will find your student and then return your call.

Students: If you have a special photo you have taken with your cell phone, email it to [email protected] so that Mrs. Lundquist can post it on the website.

SUNDAY, OCT 20th “the day we return” 5:00 p.m. we return to EHS and unload

EVERYONE plan to stick around and help unload the equipment truck

ALL INSTRUMENTS GO HOME
