THEYRE BAAAACK!The Manchester Monarchs are back in action and have ofcially dropped the puck at the Verizon Wireless Arena

for their 13th year in the Jungle! After a stellar 3-0-0-1 record in their rst four games on the road, the team looks

to improve not only their record for the season but their record in Home Openers. Over the last 12 seasons, the

Monarchs are 7-5-0-0 in their Home Openers, including a 1-2-0-0 record when hosting the Providence Bruins for the

rst game of the season in Manchester.

    BABY BS

The Monarchs and Providence Bruins have a long standing rivalry and will face each other 12 times this season.

Manchester took game one last Friday night with a 3-2 shootout victory at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Former Bruins

and current Monarchs defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk teamed up with right wing Brandon Kozun to bounce back

from a two-goal decit and push the game to a shootout. Goaltender Martin Jones stood tall stopping center Carter

Camper, left wing Matt Fraser and center Alexander Khokhlachev. The only Bruins player to sneak past Jones in theshootout was center Ryan Spooner. Both Camper and Spooner led the Bruins against the Monarchs last season with

three goals and seven assists for 10 points each. Kozun led Manchester with three goals and ve assists for eight

points against Providence during the 2012-13 season. The Bruins won the match-up last season with an 8-4-0-0

record against the Monarchs (4-7-0-1), but overall, Manchester has edged Providence with a record of 57-43-3-10 in

    113 games since 2001.

    PENGUINS ARE OUR FRIENEMIES

Contests with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have proven to be good showdowns over the years and Sundays

game is no exception. The Monarchs will welcome back former goaltender Peter Mannino and right wing Tom

    Kostopoulos. Mannino collected a 10-7-0 record with a 2.47 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage in

20 games with the Monarchs last season. Kostopoulos will be returning to the Queen City for the rst time since

the 2004-05 season when he recorded 71 points (25-46=71) and a plus-30 rating in 64 games with the Monarchs.

Since leaving Manchester, Kostopoulos has added to his NHL resume for a total of 630 games, 61 goals, 96 assists,

157 points and 723 penalty minutes with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina

Hurricanes, Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils. The Penguins have had the Monarchs number over the years as

Manchester has a record of 6-12-0-2 in 20 games against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. To challenge the Monarchs current

undefeated in regulation record of 3-0-0-1, the Penguins enter the weekend with an undefeated record of their own

    at 3-0-0-0.

    TWO-FOR-ONE MEAL DEAL

The Monarchs are proud to partner with Jokers Bar, Grill & Arcade in offering a meal deal before the game! Bring
