welcomeA Message from the Coach
Welcome to JMU Men’s Tennis! I am extremely proud to be the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at my alma mater. This is an exciting time in the history of the tennis pro-gram. I look for great accomplishments from the individual competitors and the team as a whole.
Simply put, JMU is an awesome place to be! The collegiate years are a time in a person’s life that offers so much growth and development. JMU and the tennis program involve student-athletes in an environment that is perfect for achieving high goals and aspirations. The team at JMU will work diligently to provide each student-athlete with the necessary resources to develop and succeed in the class-room, on the court, and beyond.
The team I referred to is more than just student-athletes and coaches. A full sup-port staff comprised of professionals in the areas of academic advising, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, athletics communication, and sport psychology help all student-athletes realize and reach their full potential.
The level the JMU tennis team aspires to is the highest. The coaching staff and sport team will prepare all student-athletes as if they are going to continue onto the professional level after their collegiate career is finished. Dedication to improvement through hard work is a must for every member of the program. High-level training in a team environment will help to raise the level of each individual and the entire program.
I thank you for considering the JMU tennis program for the next step of your tennis development. I hope you give serious consideration to JMU helping you take your game and life to the next level.
Sincerely,
Steve Secord Head Men’s Tennis Coach
