SIMPACK Multi-Body Simulation Software

New Software Release SIMPACK is pleased to announce the official release of SIMPACK 9.5. This release delivers more than 90 new features and 150 improvements.

Detailed information about updates and new features can be found in the SIMPACK documentation and on the SIMPACK download server.

Documentation

Along with new sections, the documentation has been further reworked.

Additional enhancements have been made to improve handling and visibility.

Pre Joint, Constraint and Force Element information has been added to the 2D page block-diagram. In the 3D view, icons can be used to show various modeling elements. Element-specific plots, e.g. Input Functions, rail profiles and tire plots can now be exported in ASCII format.

Realtime

SIMPACK Realtime now supports the UDP S-Function, which enables easy interaction with SIMPACK Realtime and Simulink® environments.

Wizard

Project-specific components and load cases are now available, in addition to those located in a common database.

Along with several GUI enhancements, the ability to easily reset default values has been implemented.

Rail

Variable rail profiles are now available for simulating turnouts, crossings, worn

profiles in curves, and for realistically simulating long tracks using laser-measured rail profiles.

A separate profile preprocessor is not required. Additionally, longitudinal section splitting allows for discontinuities.

The variable profiles are animated in Pre and Post, and cross-section plots of the preceding and succeeding profiles can be used for checking the interpolation.

Automotive SIMPACK 9.5 enables “initial position” joint parameters in the CV Joint (constant-velocity joint) and universal joints, to avoid parameterization of joint states in driveline models if initial angles are needed. This simplifies handling, i.e. resetting joint-states to zero, particularly when working with the Automotive Database.

Wind Several additions have been made to the outputs of the aerodynamic Force Elements.

Wind Force Elements can now be exported as Simulink S-Functions and FMUs.

FMU and Simulink® Interfaces

Flexible Bodies, SIMBEAM, LOADS

Dynamic port sizing of SIMAT S-Function is now available.

An FMU function call recorder executable has been created in order to assist users in debugging FMUs; SIMPACK installation

is not required.

With 9.5, animation speeds of models with flexible bodies have dramatically increased. Stress recovery with LOADS Stress&Strain now supports ANSYS Shell Elements.

A new rectangular cross section with rounded corners is now available. This is particularly useful for modeling flexible leaf springs with SIMBEAM.

Gear Pair and Gear Wheel 9.5 introduces a new “Basic Gear Pair” Force Element which does not require detailed geometry or consider meshing excitations.

Users can also choose to use the Gear Pair Primitive 25 for entering required parameters.

SIMPACK now includes element-specific plots for visualizing a gear wheel’s basic and micro-geometry.

Gear Pair specific plots give users a quick overview of the operative and theoretical properties.

Contact Improvements in the PCM contact method have made the required element pre-processing significantly faster and improved the robustness in case of unfavorable surface discretization.

Expression/SubVars

Math utility functions are now available for vector transformation via matrices.

New Expression access functions are available for accessing forces and torques acting on a Marker.
