SIMPACK Multi-Body Simulation Software

New Software Release

SIMPACK is pleased to announce the official release of SIMPACK 9.4. This release delivers more than 100 new features and 200 improvements. Among the most anticipated new features is the fully integrated and parameterizable SIMBEAM module.

Detailed information about updates and new features can be found in the release notes section of the SIMPACK documentation and on the SIMPACK download server.

SIMBEAM

Post-Processor

Mathematical Functions” such as sin(y), cos(y), and tan(y) have been added to the Post filtering capabilities.

New plugins were added to the Post which allow users to export and import RPC III files. This is useful for exchanging data with other tools such as nCode DesignLife.

SIMPACK 9.4 reintroduces a fully parameterizable and integrated SIMBEAM module that makes setting up flexible beam structures easier than ever. Full parameterization allows for fast variation of SIMBEAM structures.

Scripting can also be used to set up and modify models.

Users can create 3D structures using Euler Bernoulli and Timoshenko Beam Elements. Furthermore, elements with linearly changing cross-sections can be used. Cross-sections can be visualized in both 2D and 3D,

and stress can be displayed in the Post.  In addition, node locations and elements can directly be copied and pasted from spreadsheets, e.g., Excel.

Pre-Processor

Tire test plots

Plots have been added for the tire models, which allow users to view typical tire characteristics such as: lateral force vs. slip angle, longitudinal

force vs. slip, etc.

Graphical model and element comparison

A utility has been added for graphically and interactively comparing models, elements and submodels. The results of the comparison, which can be filtered, can be directly edited within the displayed tree.

Model Executable Export

With the new “Create Model Executable” function, models can be exported into self-contained executables which can include user interface and solver scripts. This can be used, alternatively or in combination with the SIMPACK WIZARD, for deploying custom vertical applications based on SIMPACK models.

The executables do not require a SIMPACK installation.

S-Function Export

SIMPACK models can now be exported as a standalone Simulink® S-Function for Co-Simulation. All SIMPACK modeling elements and features are supported.

The created standalone S-Function can be imported in a Simulink® model and does not require a SIMPACK installation at runtime.

Solver SIMPACK 9.4 offers significant speedup for both the standard and parallel solver.

Advanced end-state handling

Final states of a solver run are now written to the output directory as a State Set file.

This can be imported into a SIMPACK model as a State Set which can then be used, for example, as new initial states.

This functionality is also available through scripting.

FMU Export SIMPACK models can now be exported as Functional Mockup Units (FMU) for co-simulation. All SIMPACK modeling elements and features are supported. The generated FMUs, which do not require a SIMPACK installation at runtime, can be used in external simulation environments or re-imported into SIMPACK as black box models.
