• The 107 hectare property is owned by the NationalHousing Authority which signed a 10 year co-management agreement with ABS-CBN FoundationInc. (AFI)

AFI, NHA and the LIAC of the City of Manilaworked together with the sending barangaysin the actual relocation which started in

2009. The Mayor of Calauan represented thethe municipality in receiving the relocatees,together with the NHA who processed theirdocuments and house assignments.

9 Homeowners’ Associations have been formed ;

As a first project, the HOAs established communalgardens as part of their waste managementsystem

conducted a 6-month daily community feedingprogram for the 35 most needy families in theirrespective areas in exchange for communityservice



In the next three years…

• An ADB grant from the Japan Fund for PovertyReduction with NHA as executing agency and AFIas implementor fills the gaps in the currentpartnership. The grant looks at BNJS7 as a pilot for

Public-Private Partnerships in poor communities. The grant aims to document best practices for

future replication.




• Full electrification is expected to be obtainedenabling the set up of locators and other places of employment.




• A chapel, sports field (AFI), transport terminal,commercial centers (by NHA), e-trikes (ADB) areprogrammed.




• At the end of the three year period,the BNJ comunity is expected to befully integrated into the municipality

of Calauan, including its planning andgovernance, and is part of the IRA of the municipality;

A model for a relocation communitywould have also been developed and

is ready for replication.
