Inside This Issue
Jerome Grimmer will be our
March Demonstrator
Next exchange for our storefront gallery
will be March 1 @ 5:00 p.m.
Jerome Grimmer was born in De-
troit, Michigan. His intention was to
become a classical orchestra com-
poser/conductor, but while in high
school, he gave up his musical am-
bitions for visual arts. After coming
to California, he enrolled at the Art
Center College of Design in LA to
study illustration.
Grimmer worked for a short time as a technical illustrator in the
space industry followed by a tour of duty in the Navy for three
years. He entered and won many local, regional, and national art
competitions. He was among the earliest artists to successfully use
acrylic as a fine art medium and has had over thirty one-man
shows and group shows. Through workshops and classes, he has
shared his knowledge with countless students. His work has been
featured in Southwest Art Magazine and is included in the Majesty
of the Grand Canyon ISO years in Art, published by First Glance
Books.
Jerome regards his paintings as a visual journal of his var-
ied experiences, refusing to limit his scope, embracing a wide vari-
ety of subjects. His paintings have been critically acclaimed for
their mastery in capturing light and atmosphere, qualities that make
Grimmer's paintings sought after and highly appreciated.

President’s
Message The Old West & Rodeo Art Show is fast approach-ing. Have you started your painting or sculpture yet? Last year we had a fabu-lous show and Gene and I know that your efforts will make the 2012 show just as wonderful.
Toni, Glynmary and Alice will be asking for volun-teers to help out with the show, bring in food for the reception and to sit the show. Please consider signing up to assist in one of these areas.

Art-Tique’s Local Art Events Calendar is a free monthly publication for the purpose of assisting artists of California’s Central Val-ley to find places to show/sell their art, make con-nections with the local art groups, and find classes, workshops, and tools that help artists develop artistic skills and the business side of art. Printed copies are usually available at the general Meetings of ACA CAG, Allards Art supply in Fresno and the Kingsburg Art Center in Kingsburg. It is distributed on-line. If you would like to begin receiv-ing a copy of this newslet-ter please contact Gail Daley @ 960-2428 or [email protected]

MYTH NO 8: "Oh, so copyright violation isn't a crime or anything?" Actually, in the 90s in the USA commercial copyright violation involving more than 10 copies and value over $2500 was made a felony. So watch out. (At least you get the protections of criminal law.) On the other hand, don't think you're going to get people thrown in jail for posting your E-mail. The courts have much better things to do. This is a fairly new, untested statute. In one case an operator of a pirate BBS that didn't charge was acquitted because he didn't charge, but congress amended the law to cover that.
MYTH NO 9: "It doesn't hurt anybody -- in fact it's free advertising." It's up to the owner to de-cide if they want the free ads or not. If they want them, they will be sure to contact you. Don't ra-tionalize whether it hurts the owner or not, ask them. Usually that's not too hard to do. Time past, ClariNet published the very funny Dave Barry column to a large and appreciative Usenet audience for a fee, but some person didn't ask, and forwarded it to a mailing list, got caught, and the news-paper chain that employs Dave Barry pulled the column from the net, pissing off everybody who enjoyed it. Even if you can't think of how the author or owner gets hurt, think about the fact that piracy on the net hurts everybody who wants a chance to use this wonderful new technology to do more than read other people's flamewars.
Myth no 10 will be covered in next month’s issue room permitting
