LinkedIn data shows that: • There are over 103,000 procurement and supply chain professionals throughout the United States • New York City has the biggest population of procurement and supply chain professionals, but demand is highest in Chicago • Medium, lower-demand markets like Boston, Seattle, and Los Angeles are likely to offer untapped sources of talent • Supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost reduction skills are in high demand • While this pool is driven primarily by compensation and benefits, they differ from other talent in that they value a company with a long-term strategic vision and are less concerned with flexible work arrangements Overview A world of insights can be gathered from LinkedIn’s 175 million members - the world’s largest professional network. “Procurement” and “supply chain” are among the most searched terms by recruiters on LinkedIn, showing that the market for procurement and supply chain talent is one of the hottest in the US. For procurement and supply chain professionals, our data shows that expertise with skills like supplier management, contract negotiations, retail buying and business process improvement is highly sought after on LinkedIn. Professionals with these skills are up to 4x more likely to be contacted by a recruiter. Therefore, expect to spend more time filling positions that require these skills.
