Forty six of our middle school band students competed in the Region 21 Solo and Ensemble band competition in Nacogdoches. Forty six students received a total fifty medals. Students were rewarded individual medals as well as quartet and trio awards. See next page for results. Mrs. Lucinda Presley contin-
ues to work with our students in 8th grade science as they prepare to Skype with Nasa sci-entist. Students are using their science knowledge and critical thinking skills to prepare their Project Mars materials.
Students and teachers are working hard to put the final work into being
well prepared for up-coming benchmarks.
The campus is anxious to see the talent of our stu-dents at the end of the month. They are creating posters of either inventors or artist who are African American and who have made contributions that have changed our world. Prizes will be awarded and the posters will be displayed in our front hall and in our library. Our art, speech, careers, and his-tory classes are coordinating the effort and helping our students stay on track with their projects.

“Southside students truly are WILD about learning”
On Tuesday our students took their Individual Spring Pictures with Loveless photography. Special thanks to Mr. Lee Loveless for making this such a successful event!
Our 3rd grade students are really gearing up for the upcoming STAAR test and working hard on learning new concepts. Mrs. Davis put together a very ex-citing lesson dealing with geometric shapes and the kids absolutely loved it!
On Thursday February 14, Southside students were able to participate with their peers, teachers, and family members in their annual Valentine’s Day Par-ties!! What a blast!
Congratulations
to Emily Michel!
Emily won a
robot for her
participation in a
recent fundraiser.

Northside students raised $3000 for Hoops for Heart last week as students practiced their shooting skills.
This week PE students are improving hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and endurance learning and playing hockey. It is a sight to see.
Love is in the air at Northside with red, white, and pink hearts everywhere. Our parties are Thursday afternoon just in time for a long weekend.
From all of Northside - Have a nice break.

Transportation was the topic for the 3 year old class-rooms. Thank you to Mr. Marshall and Mr. Gary for helping the students in Mrs. White’s class build trucks. Following directions was just a little handicap. I’m not sure for whom.

A.M. Story Intermediate was part of the crew that helped unload the weekend backpacks on Tuesday, 2/12/13, off the semi truck from The East Texas Food Bank. The truck was a little late getting to the Court Drive Church of Christ, probably due to the weather.
Once the truck arrived and we started loading up the pick up trucks and trailers, the sky opened up and it started raining, so we were all soaking wet.
When all the back packs were loaded, we headed to Lone Pine Baptist Church and unloaded to their storage room. Mr. Haltom kept count of the num-ber of crates he carried into the Church and let us all know it was 52 crates he carried, on foot, not using a dolly!
Story is scheduled to help out again on the 26th of this month, but we are still looking for volunteers to help in March and April. Middle School will help in May.
