The societies creating this accrediting board,here record their intent not to create conditions,nor to have conditions created, that will tendtoward standardization of educational philosophiesor practices, but rather to create and maintainconditions that will encourage the development ofpractices suited to the conditions which arespecial to the individual school. The accreditingboard must be guided by this intent.

The NAAB aspires to be the leader inestablishing educational quality assurancestandards to enhance the value, relevance,and effectiveness of the architecturalprofession.

The NAAB has accredited professional degreeprograms rather than schools or universities and
only accredits the first professional degreeprogram offered by any school or university.
The NAABs primary responsibilities include
